Darn, what a bummer! I remember you and your truck from our luncheon at the Hilltop GrilleI have hit two in the rather settled area around Atlanta, you must have to be constantly on the lookout up in the forested mountains of the state. I have read that there are more deer in the US now than at the time of the founding of our country. The number of car/deer strikes in Michigan is truly unbelievable, particularly in the Upper Peninsula area of that state. A cousin of mine lived in LaGrange GA near West Point lake and they referred to them as horned rats. They would come up into the residential areas at night and strip shrubbery to the ground. I'll never forget coming up I-75 from Florida in the area of LaGrange once, years ago, and on a wide area of the Interstate median there was a huge herd of deer, notwithstanding the fencing on either side of the highway!
Not sure what the answer is to control the population, seemingly hunting deer is not as popular as it once was and they have no viable predators any more!
