Hood opening

Just watch a video on the preproduction SSR on another site. They went to look at the engine compartment and the hood open slowly as if it was powered by hydraulics. Man that sure beats a prop noodle. Has anybody ever seen something like that? :skep

It's not so uncommon in the custom rod business. There's a show on Speed channel called Chop Cut Rebuild that's showcasing a 57 Belair project that's using 4 pneumatic cylinders. The cylinders will lift the entire body off the chassis to show it off!

Straight lifting of lighter weight items like the hood or doors would probably be done using electric linear actuators and not hydraulics or pneumatics. The installation is so much simpler - just add a few wires rather than pressure hoses, reserviors, etc.

Hmm.... linear actuator powered tonneau cover.
