Hi everyone. I love the site, very simple and thank you very much for not activating the email notification when i registered cause i never bother checking my email :)
I have always wanted an SSR every since it was out, I had the oppurtunity to get an 03 but I live abroad and an 03 goes for $66,300 in Bahrain. I just logged on to the chevy site looking for a dealer so i will know who to call and if they can ship the car out of the states. I currently own a Toyota Landcruiser which is my daily drive and a Porsche Turbo '01 model which is my weekend car but its gonna be sold soon cause i know that when porsche shows the new model turbo next year, used turbo prices will sink down. Its nice, its fun, but have to sell it quick. Hopefully if Lamborghini gets a better reputation by september then i wouldnt mind one but if not then dont know what to do from there on. I have owned so interesting cars in the past. I started with a Mercedes CLK 200, then bought a Porsche 99 model carrera cabriolet, then sold that an got an 01 porsche turbo and while owning that i also got a Audi S3 which was never released in the states. When i was studying in Boston, MA I had a ford thunderbird 2002 model and 03 Chevy Z06. By the end of the year I hope to have the landruiser, SSR, CLS350 benz for the wife (getting married soon :)) and a Lambo murcielago. I just hope she doesnt ask me to drive it.
I had my share of performance cars but now I want to enter show car competitions with the car. I dont know anything about the SSR except for some people who say there is a lot of wind noise in the cabin but thats about it. I would like to surf longer and look at old posts to get to know everything about the car and hope to get along with all of you here :)
If anyone here can help me out in looking for an SSR in yellow with all the options except for the towing package and chrome plated wheels, Iwould appreciate it a lot. Thanx for reading

Hope you get your SSR soon. :)
But don't be so sure Porsche will have a Turbo next year, remember they didn't build them in 1998,1999, and 2000. With Porsche nothing is set in stone, and the 1997 models still bring a TON of money.

I have had my 05 since December and although I have read a lot about the wind noise problem, I really have not experienced it. However, I am also used to driving older cars that are noisy. I also don't think it is any noisier than my 2003 Corvette Convertible.

I'm happy with my 2005.

Hi Daij, welcome! We have an '05 Redline Red SSR and we love it. We had an '03 and it did have a lot of wind noise but we haven't noticed that in the '05. We bought ours October 30th and have only put 447 miles on it since then, winter came and it went into the garage til spring. We plan to enjoy it again once nice weather arrives in the Midwest. I hope you find your SSR soon!

I can help with getting you own SSR!

Hi there Daji,

I work with a number of brokers that can help you out but you will have to contact me with e mail so I can get in touch with you. I don't know what the price would be for bahrain, but I can check it out for you, we would ship it directly from the states, just let me know how you would like it, the availability on the SSRs have opened up here so you can be picky thegemologist at gmail dot com if you get my drift.

I will be waiting for you.

Thanx a lot for the welcome guys, really looking forward to getting my SSR.
gemologist- It would be even better to get in touch with you cause from what i have seen over here, there is no way I am paying $66,300 for an 04 SSR (thats how much they go for over here and there are only 4 currently in the country).

my yahoo email account doesnt work but i will create a new one tomorrow and email you and yes I would definitly love to get in touch but right now i am still stuck. Dont know whether to go with the red or the yellow, they both are amazing. A dealer in MA told me their price was $45,755 for an 05 slingshot yellow SSR with everything except the chrome plated wheels and the tow package. If I can get it for lower it will be even better.

Sam- Yeah they probably wont release the next turbo but we didnt expect a new carrera until 2007 and here it is as an 05 model and an 04 for some countries. Right now porsche is unpredictable. In 1999 I bought my carrera cabrio as an '00 model for $97,000. In 2000 of october porsche dropped their prices and i paid $124,000 for my turbo as an 01 model. If people would hear that the difference between a carrera and a turbo was $27,000 they wouldnt believe it. But on top of all that, I loved the SSR ever since the concept pics were out. I just cant wait to customize it and ofcourse get it first :)
Now I am selling it for $76,000 just incase anyone from the mideast comes in here and is interested :D 2001 and has only 14,553 miles on it and ofcourse modified.

here's a pic of it at a car show. after 4 car shows, i never won anything :leaving
