I want to start a poll to see how many times your SSR has been in for service. Mine has been in 18 times since I got her in Nov. 2003. This would also include oil changes and warranty items. The data might prove to be interesting and see who shares a commonality with certain problems with the SSR. :thumbs

Forgive my ignorance but how do you vote for how many times it's been in for service when there is no place to put a number? Mine is 7 months old and has never been in for service, so I guess I can't participate :confused

The number is ZERO!

Production date 8/03. Slingshot Yellow #185 took delivery in October 2003. The total number of times in for non routine service is Zero, Nada....Ziltch! I will probably be cursed from this day forward. As we complain about the SSR. Remember that Chevrolet could have walked away from bringing the concept to production and we all could be driving 4 door cavaliers!!!!

Added options to the poll

HI Group,

I added to Ed's Poll. I wanted more options for those that had other problems than the first 3 listed and or those that had NO problems could vote too.

  • Oil changes
  • window molding issues - 2 twice (still get caught)
  • "Tink" Driveshaft or propshaft replaced (ok so far)
  • Exhaust pipe tip stuck out further on one side/ or fix facia adjustment
  • Replace Tonneau Struts (didn't help)
  • GPH Gauge replaced

service trips

I have had to take mine to the shop twice since delivery on 12/15/04. The first time was 12/16/04 to have the missing parts ( dealer installed accessories ) installed and again in March of this year for scrubbing wire loom on top rear post that was scratching my paint on the passenger side. Minor adjustments for sure, but I hate to have my truck in the shop for any reason. I won't even let them change my oil.

I have had the window adjustment made but before they did it the easy way they replaced the U shaped molding that runs the length of the roof. but that didn't fix the problem and they did the adjustment per Houtex' dealers instruction and all was good again.

I also had the drive shaft "tink" fixed once! (still tinking)

I let them change the oil so far it has been free.

Also had the body shop fill the hole and repaint the grill because they put the license plate holder on!!!:(
So Total 6 -7 times

Yes it is best to do that before replacing your moldings!

I also had the drive shaft "tink" fixed once! (still tinking)There is 2nd replacement driveshaft or "propshaft" try having it replaced again.

I let them change the oil so far it has been free. Me too it is good to have your oil changes documented on our speciality vehicle. Helps if and when you have an issue later on after the warranty period expires called "Good Will" warranty.

I will need to take the latest and greatest info on the driveshaft to them because the last time the oil was changed I asked again if the updated info on the drive shaft had been made available to them.. They said no, but Frank knows that I am on this site and could possibly know more than him. ( I think he might be a little scared of me :lol:lol) J/K :flag

Behind

Well I'm glad to be behind someone in this category, but I still have had it in 14 times so far (and I have to take it in a least one more time this week).

I just found out that I had a bad switch under the passengers seat. This is the first time that it has been in for anything that is under warranty. The only other time has been when my girlfriend hit the fence and for oil changes.

First time

We just did the first oil change (my husband did it - didn't feel the need to bring it to the dealer).

I had a small laundrylist of "issues" which I brought to the dealers attention yesterday, the service manager was a bonehead but the guy who looked at the issues was kewl and surprized at all the information I had at hand (told me he was impressed that I had done my homework - Thanks to all at this site and the posts I've been able to gather part #s etc).

There are 2 cosmetic issues, the radio antenna and the worst of which was the drive shaft tink. They looked at it and told me they had to order the part - still waiting on that!

All vehicles have issues, as long as there are solutions and no "static" from the repair folks, I can deal with it!

Crazy: those clowns are not my mechanics but ya neva know do ya? Fortunately my mechanic, Joe, in the service dept. is very good and knowledgable. He can't help it if my baby is the proud owner of so many problems. At least he knows how to fix them. The clowns were at a car show on the boardwalk in VA. Bch. this spring. I had to have them pose next to black Betty for a cool shot. They were cool guys doing a good service for little or no pay, but lots of fun payback.

Service

Added my 'powertrain' problem to the poll. Also had the dealer do the first oil change (or should I say last).
It didn't bother me so much that the guy doing the change had to come over and ask what oil to put in (synthetic or??) - at least he did ask first. But after I got it home I noticed an occasional drip from the vicinity of the oil filter that was not there before. Turns out it was just spillage from the change so I cheaned up the underside and it's fine now - no leak. Next and all future oil changes are in Art's garage.. :cool

once (cross fingers)

window molding issues/adjustment looked great when picked up but was haywire by the time I got home :mad scheduled another service appointment but weather turned warm that weekend, molding started working and haven't been back since :)

will probably have them do service since the dealer is only a few blocks from work
