New member here. Sorry if I’m in the wrong spot to post this. Would someone be so kind as to pm me the secret handshake so I can open my truck lid with the battery dead? I put a new battery in this spring but clearly there is a draw somewhere. Working on replacing the shift cable bushing only to find my battery is dead. Doh! Thanks!

@RG maybe you can edit and delete that information in your answer so as not to let the public know of this option. Press the 3 dots on the upper right of your post and select "edit". Then you can back space the info.
Hope this helps! Thank you! 😉

Battery is under the truck and not in back area.

Simply put a battery charger on, jump at the underhood locations or replace the battery under the truck behind the passenger rear wheel. Or open up the owners manual in the glove box where there are instructions for the manual operation of the tailgate. If you do not have an owners manual there are many digital copies on the internet. One location example - Web Resources – Chevy SSR Club

Of course checking the Owners Manual is what I usually do but did I do it this time? Noooooooo. Anyway, thanks for the reminder. They've done a good job on their anti-theft solutions. I have access now. Also replaced the battery and have the SSR properly on a tender! Even managed to replace the shift linkage bushing without a jack. It was a pain but it can be done.
