My first Rally was in Florida in 2008. The Florida Fanatics have made me feel very welcome over the years and I cherish the many good friends that I have been fortunate to meet in the Florida Chapter, so it makes me sad to do this post.
Here is an post in the For Sale section form 2018.
SSR Parts for Sale/Wanted
"I have a nice set of covers that I took off of the truck when I replaced with new old stock covers 3 years ago. Also I have new driver seat back cover. I can bring them to Daytona if anyone interested. Jack"
A Florida Chapter member that I will not name,(however those of you that he has told that I am a liar and cheat will know who I am talking about, others do not need to know.) contacted me and said he was interested in buying them. I agreed to bring them to the 2018 Daytona Beach Rally for him to inspect. He came to the rally and only stayed a half day and did not contact me before leaving. He asked another member to look at them and call him. That person recommended that he buy the covers. Paco was having some problems and I had to leave a day early. He called when I was on the way home and wanted me to come back so he could look at the covers. I declined. Later he called and wanted me to ship the covers for him to look at. I declined but said that I would be at Maggie Valley but would not bring them again for him to simply "look at" but I agreed to ship him the driver side cover for inspection at his cost( I think it was around $16), If he didn't like it and didn't want them he agreed to return it to me at Maggie Valley or if he wanted them I would bring the rest of the covers to Maggie Valley which I did and he picked them up and paid me. Again my new old stock driver cover did not sell at the Swap meet. I eventually sold it to a Texas Member for $150.
He contacted me 4 years later and said I sold him a single passenger cover instead of a driver cover. This was not that long after I had buried my wife after being her sole caregiver as she succumbed to Altheimer's. I had not recovered from losing her and was not myself and I really could not recall the facts of this incident at the time and responded that if I had mistakenly delivered a passenger instead of a driver's of course I would refund his money.
After thinking about it I recalled what had actually happened and told him that he had not purchased a single driver cover but instead the whole take off set as stated above. He maintained that I did not ship him a driver cover and that he did not buy the complete set of takeoff covers at Maggie Valley, that he bought the single cover at Dantona Beach which is incorrect.
I had for sale only 1 new old stock driver cover (that I sold to a member in Texas) and 1 complete seat of takeoff covers that I delivered to him. I do not know what he did with the rest of the covers, it is not my responsibility.
At Maggie Valley last week he came up to me and told me that he had brought the cover and wanted me to take it back and refund to him $375. I told him again what I had sold him was a complete set and that I had no intention of refunding $375 for part of a set I sold him 5 years ago and walked away.
Later in the day as I was helping a new owner with his truck he came and told the guy I was a liar and cheat and not to buy anything from me because I would cheat him.
Over the years I have tried to give back to the Forum members. I have spent many hours working on members trucks, changed many top cylinders, troubleshot many trucks and repaired. My payment each time was a Hamberger and a coke or nothing..
I have done nothing wrong and for this person to besmirch my reputation is just too much to simply do nothing.

Absolutely no need to defend yourself to those of us that know you or know of you. The hours and hours you spend helping other owners, your contributions to the forum and your well earned reputation as an invaluable source of help and advice is known to nearly all of us. That is all I need to know about you. As for him, trying to return something from 5 years previously, and calling you names in front of other people - that’s all I need to know about him.

Jack I have to agree with OLDFSTGUY. What you did just shows your the better man. What I don't get is where someone would think that if a deal was not what they expected, why was it not handled with in a reasonable amount of time, like 30 or 60 days. Discuss what the issue is with the person and then move on. If they waited 6 months or longer in my book it's a done deal and move on with life. Anyone expecting to go back 5 years is way out of bounds. Don't worry Jack your a good guy who has been here and helped a lot of folks.

GOOD MORNING, Jack @jackatg450 . . .

After sleeping on this "Obnoxious Scenario" you have described being subjected to . . . I have decided there is only one solution. "CONSIDER THE SOURCE, IGNORE and MOVE ON !"

Good Luck and remember that there are plenty of IDIOTS out there.

Well like Hank said in his song "I am moving on".
The support and positive comments posted here have helped immensely. When something like this comes out of left field it makes you wonder.

Jack, your reputation is more than solid on the forum with the people that know of you and follow your posts and threads.
The old car saying - "There is an ass for every seat".
You just happened to have the misfortune of selling your seat to the wrong ass.
