I have an found an 05 SSR for a great price. My one complication is my 04 GTO. I am leasing the GTO and cannot find anyone to assume the lease. The buyout price is to high for the dealer, although I could probably add the difference to the SSR, but don't want to make it out of reach for me.
I may have to hang in there for another 18 months to take advantage of the GM pull ahead program to get into one, but don't know if I can wait that long...lol...
I have some GM dollars on my GM card, so that helps, but if anyone has any GMID or other certificates that they can't use, let me know, I would put them to good use.
I enjoy this forum and all of the info and feelings that everyone has about their SSR's. Hope to be an SSR owner soon................................Tom :ssr

The weather is right - suck it up and buy it. The experience of owning an SSR is like no other.

I do understand your problem though. Look at it this way though - you won't have to worry about putting too many miles on the GTO :) with lease restrictions.

Just do it. I just drove my silver 05 home last week and I had a similar situation like yours with a trade. I just made it work. This is a unique time with the GM discount to get into such a brillant vehicle. I don't know if the 04 GTO had the 350hp motor but if it did you'll really love the LS2 :thumbs

So tell me how did you make it work??? I need that push...lol All kidding aside, I am looking at everything possible to make this happen. And this SSR is priced below any of the discounts offered now, so they do not apply. And yes the GTO for 04 had 350 HP, but with the mods I made it is now around 380 HP Gross. IT runs great, but Can't stop thinking about the SSR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Tom :ssr

I put down a lot more cash than I normally would and the great pricing of the SSR only helped. I did a smartbuy, which really helps manage payments. Have the dealer work you up a smartbuy payment. You'll get a better interest rate than the GM website says depending on your credit.
Don't bother with those swapalease deals, I looked into them and when and if they release your vehicle it stays in your name. So if the next guy misses a payment it goes on your credit. Unreal, I don't know who goes for that?
If you're willing to travel there is a yellow 05 SSR for sale in Freehold,NJ GMC dealer with 61 miles on it for 37k. Another member from NJ posted it previosly. I actually considered it but I had to have silver. I paid 2k more for my silver one. Good luck. ;)

I will be glad to get you a GMID number. Just send me a private message. Include your date of birth (day, month and year) and the last four digits of your social security number. I will call GM and get the number sequence and email it to you. You then give the number to the dealer and he enters it on his computer.
No actual certificate is required, just the number.

Good Luck - and GO FOR IT!

I had the option of the real GM employee number. The dealer did not need it. Gave me a better deal and the vehicle has a 2000 dollar cash rebate right now. The dealers in cleveland will deal below there cost to move the SSR's Motordoc
