JRSSR: The K&N air charger kit (not merely the K&N filter), is by K&N's admission good for only maybe 4 hp or so, and also looks ugly.

The Vararam people have been promising for months to ship to their SSR intake "soon" but have failed to do so (I am actually number 1 on their waiting list), and although they claim more power than the K&N VERBALLY, have been strangely silent since I asked them for a dyno curve.

Some of us have been toying with the idea of removing the "chevrolet" trim piece on the front lip of the hood, trimming back the INNER hood liner behind it, and fashioning an intake duct for a true COLD air intake.

This would have big impact since the SSR runs very hot due to the underhood shape and small volume and small rad. It would cool the incoming air a LOT compared to the reaaly hot air the engine gets to eat right now.

First guy that actually makes something like that will have a runaway market winner that will work on ALL SSRs.

Vaquero: Those tests were done on a highly modified Honda Civic - a rather high rpm engine. And, note that the worthwhile results occur at very high rpms compared to where our SSRs run.

Still, worthwhile and informative to study.

Yeah, I saw that. If you google "Weapon-R" you'll get various vendors. Some of them have chevy 6.0 liter for yukon, suburban etc. If you go to the Weapon-R website they will even build you a custom but they have no dyno data.
