first post, 2005 chevy ssr 6.0 58,000 miles

recently installed a tsp 228r cam with dual valve springs and long tube headers and made 437whp on the dyno but tuner recommended that i upgrade intake manifold and injectors. i’ve heard the fast intake is great but have also heard good things about the tbss intake. is there any certain intake i should be looking at in particular? injectors are something i don’t have much experience with and would love to hear some recommendations. thank you all!

I am not convinced that the SSR LS2 intake can be outdone by anything from the aftermarket. The SSR intake will give you the best low end torque and only outdone by the aftermarket stuff at full throttle above 5,000 rpm. Even then, only by a small margin. My opinion…… not worth the effort or money to make a change and trade low end performance for high end performance.

I would recommend the standard injector used on the Magnuson TVS1900 and 2300 supercharger. We use the Siemens Deka 60lb Injectors. They are wonderfully linear in their output and will deliver a LOT of fuel at higher pressures. We are running them at 65psi (I think) on 900 HP installations without running out of duty cycle.

Your attention should really be directed to the fuel pump. The OEM pump is not as robust as your installation should have. The Walbro 450 is a much better pump and will supply fuel well beyond your needs. It will also require 12 gauge wiring to support the current draw. Your existing wiring won’t support that. You can create your own system, if you want, but I have a good friend that builds a gorgeous “drop-in” system. It’s a plug-and-play package that I supply with every supercharger kit and the absolute best engineered answer to the need.

Mike is dead on about the SSR factory intake. With the weight of our trucks you would be better off with the low end torque to get it moving then the top end gains. Do a search for @Topspin post he has done a couple intake swaps and has posted his results.

I thought the TBSS intake is the same as the SSR intake. Or so close you would not see any difference between the two.

You are absolutely correct….. the 2006 SSR intake and the 2007 TBSS intake are the same part number........
