I have just returned from an SSR shopping trip. I am looking for a 2005 with a manuel transmission. I have been told by two different Chevy dealers in Tacoma, Washington that they can get what I am looking for. Both dealers sho the MSRP as about $49,500.

The first dealer invoice is $46,700 (the salesman showd me a paper with that price listed as dealer invoice anyway). They want $800 over dealer invoice which brings the price to $47, 500. With the $6000 cash back that makes the price $41,500 plus tax and license.

The second dealer did not show me the dealer invoice price but told me his best price is 42,000 plus tax and licensel.

I have seen on the forum that an 05 should sell for around $34,000 with the $6000 cash back plus tax and licence. Is the $41,500 a reasonable price or should I expect to pay $34,000? I am hoping to make a purchase before the end of February when the $6000 cash back runs out but I don't want to pay too much.

Thanks

Per my insurance agent...

Value for a slightly used (2661 miles) 2005 is $37,500.

For $43,000 I am looking to get a new 2006 manual/3SS, usually $47,000-49,000 MSRP. I have one quote for a 2006 manual @$39,600/$47,000 MSRP (I hope it is true!).

I'd keep looking! Especially if they won't show you an invoice. Good luck.

This seems high, by about $4000.
They should be around $33,000 or less for an 05. Shipping from the midwest to your door is around $1,000 to $1,500. They are not moving well in the Midwest or East.
Dealers can buy these off their "Smart" Auction (GM dealers ONLY) and pass the savings on to you. I got my 05 6 Speed still on the MSRP with 31 miles this past September for $33,500. Trust me they did not grow in value since then. My local dealer owns two Chevrolet dealerships and their big time "employee discount" was $43,500 on a Sticker price of $49,000 and change, and $41,500 on a Sticker of $47,000. Shop around, look on Ebay. Any dealer that has one and has seen the light, will deal. One dealer in New York (near Buffalo) had one SSR sitting on the showroom floor for 10 months and no one even asked to drive it. There are good deals to be had and you are in the drivers seat. Check these out.
When you do Ebay Searches, always search All Categories and Priced Highest first.

Be sure to ask any dealer a firm price on delivery to your door, if you buy from out of state. I know of some that have offered airfare for you to pick it up and steak dinner. I know that by now we all realize there is a shortage of buyers not SSR's. Also a extended warranty is a MUST, should be able to get a great one for about $1,000. I went with the Major Guard 60 months or 40,000 miles for $995.00. Never let anyone sell you an extended warranty other than the Manufactures, this case GM, anthing else is B.S.
We also know that nothing will put a smile on your face faster than driving a SSR.

Greenup is a real small town in North-eastern KY. I am on the pin map if you are interested to really know. I wanted Red but slingshot yellow is just as cool and the price was to good to pass by.

Thanks

I paid $36,500 for my $47+K sticker 05 truck in early November. I really dont think you should have to pay more than that.

I had given up on getting 6-speed, I could not get my local dealers lower than $42,000. But ISLANDDREAMS (Billy) found me a new 2005 black 6-speed, 1SB package, loaded, MSRP $ 50,000+, for $ 31,600! Keep trying, I didn't believe the deals were out there until this one practically fell in my lap!

Good luck!:)

Vettegirl....you are 100% right...it is sorta funny how it works because like you mine fell in my lap too. I had looked for a year and said "NO WAY" because of pricing. Then the phone rings from a dealer I had not spoken with who was a friend of mine and out of the wild blue starting telling me about the SSR he had an even the color i was searching for...My advice...keep looking and keep asking about the "Smart Auction" that GM has for it's dealers.:seeya

I just bought mine brand new for $37,000!

Kevin Whitaker Chevrolet in Greenville SC has several in stock and are priced very reasonably. I looked for a while.
The owner of the dealership is currently going crazy buying as many SSRs as he can until the production stops. If you would consider shipping, you may want to try them. Our sales lady Judy is awesome. This is the 2nd SSR I have bought from them.Right now they have a two tone silver & black 06 6 speed... a yellow 05..a silver 05..a black 05..and one of the original first production 03--purple.

I had lots of dealerships vary on price....search hard!!!!
