Lost the Battle

Well guys, I lost the battle with the "wife" police. Was setting up to get the '05 aqua blua and had to take the wife for the final approval. Well, I tried my best. Everything going good until the salesman of all people mentioned to her that there was no spare tire. Well, now I know how it feels when the walls fall down upon ya with the look the wife gave me. I asked salesman if he could switch the tires to the same as the corvette uses and said no way can you do that because of weight. So, I believed that part. Wife continued on only being two seats which I convinced her before we arrived at dealership that it wouldn't be a proble, we still had another car if needed to accompany other poassengers. But the no spare tire thing blew the cork off. I tried in vain. No luck.
So, for the past three weeks I've been driving around in my new GTO '05. I went to a dealership and did a dealer trade for the color I wanted. Midnight Blue and all is well with the wife, 4 seats and a spare tire. I have to admit, there's a whole lotta power in the GTO. Doesn't get the stand out looks as the SSR but when I first drove my salesman for a joy ride , some guy driving along side of us had his cell phone camera taking pics of the GTO. Not bad for a car that ddin't go a mile yet. Had a couple of little things go wrong so far, dealer fixed it up and no more problems. The big thing is when I start the GTO the SEG gets wider and wider. The exhaust note on it is awesome.
Well, just let you guys know what happened. I enjoy this room and still read all the talk in hear. Good luck with all your SSR's. And if anyone is considering one, get it. It's a fun car (truck) to drive.

Mine said also that if I get "the stupid truck" she will not ride in it either. Just last night she said she will call it stupid all the time. Like "are we going to take stupid for a ride".

ahhh, the joys of batchelorhood!!!!!!! :lol :lol :lol i can even leave my dirty clothes on the floor without getting smacked around! :jester :lol
Stupid

rshottel,
Sounds like an old grilfriend I once had, didn't like my dog. "Are we going to take stupid with us".
Couldn't understand if she was talking about the dog or me. :lol
Mike :cool
I feel so lucky....

I think the wife loves the truck more than me !!!!!! We have six vehicles, and she gets a disapointed look her her face if I want to drive something else. The only problem with it is... now she wants to buy another one for her own!!!! :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :)
The women here on our forum have been very quiet on this thread.....hmmmmm. Fuzzy put it all in perspective on another thread when he stated, "...if momma ain't happy, nobody's happy." For me, this is my very last big thrill and my wife accepted it prior to the big purchase. I do as much as I possibly can around the house and that helps a lot with these kinds of requests for testosterone enhancements like SSR's. I suggest you cook dinner every night, do the laundry, vacum once in a while and pick up after yourself, in addition to always cleaning her car too and you may be surprised what happens. First keep her happy and then she will see to your happiness. :angel
Who's being quiet ?????

Us women just sit back and let you guys finish saying what you want, then we put our 2 cents in. The one guy would have not lost his battle if he had his wife come to this sight and talk to us SSR women first!!!!! I fell in love with the truck the first time I saw it featured on some car channel about 3 years ago... the only reason I did't have one sooner was they were a little out of my price range. But, a few years later, when I finally saw it in person and my husband and I test drove it together, I knew then I had to have it at any cost..... I wouldn't trade it for a choice of any other vehicle in the world!!!!! :ssr :) :ssr :) :ssr :) :ssr :)
you're a lucky man david!

I have had my SSR since Feb of '04 and the wife STILL refuses to even sit in it. She never drives it and ALWAYS throws it in my face that I bought the car especially over her objections.

And it is true.....everything she does now she says..."well you bought that SSR" To date it has cost me a trip (for her) to Cancun and Aruba (boy if she knew they were all free points for the plane and hotel) and now she is in Disney with the kids. But look at the bright side. I get to drive the SSR. :lol

See, I knew I wasn't alone. Ya think your wife and mine were twins in another life? And yes, yours goes on trips, mine goes to Bloomies, MAcy's , Lord & taylor. Ya think she might try Walmart? F .. No.
But, my wheels are still burning. Not done yet. But it's going to take me two years to do it though. Just hope they're still making the SSR in 2007.

Easy give her the GTO and buy the SSR and then you have both, I know how it is everytime I got a Vette I would get that look, She disliked Vettes so much she didn't mind the SSR but now it is I don't see why you need to take the engine apart on a brand new truck, I don't understand why you need a super charger and on and on

That's exactly what is on my mind. This Tuesday I'm getting her car tinted. Cuz I got the GTO's tinted last week. Telling her how much they cool the car off sitting in the sun, being her car is outside and the goat is in the garage. So, now I got the lamb ready for the pickin now, so in two years after the dust settles, I'll hit her with the SSR and tell her she can drive the goat. psssst (fat chance). I'm still keeping the Taurus she has now and tell her she can use the Taurus for to and from work because everyone parks so close to each other and I don't want the goat scratched. So, I think I'll be ahead some. She'll drive the goat under controlled circumstances. I'll have the goat and the ssr to drive. One to cruise the other to kick azz on mustangs and ricers. Best of all worlds. But I need time. Such a factor when ya scheming. I know I'm bad. But I just love that roof :ssr

Boy am I lucky! getting the SSR for me was her idea :thumbs
mine, all mine

This little Ultra Violet sitting in the driveway belongs to the "woman" in the family, I had a hard time getting the ol' man convinced that it was what I needed for my new car...eventually traded in his '02 Explorer for it and he took my Lincoln LS for himself!

enjoy :flag
only problem we had

when my baby said he wouldn't be a complete man until he had an SSR, was wha' color and when can we get it! We more mature females have just as much fun with these things and the joy on our companion's faces is equal to ours when we're cruisin! We've been married almost 10 years now and have had nine different classic cars and trucks so far hanging out in our garage...better investments for retirement than stocks n' bonds. Bring 'em on! The only restraints we have is garage space. :lol
