For you to out run that car yo uwill need to spend some big money... Supercharger or turbo, exhaust sytem and maybe a gear change..These trucks are not much for racing... ANd yes I did notice that you had the LS2.

Power to weight ratio, power train efficiency and gear ratios = you need about 500 hp to win that one. Just pull up to the next red light and drop the top and he won't care if he beat you earlier! Enjoy it for what it is and if it bothers you that much to loose - get an extra car for "racing". (See my other rides = 03 Mustang Cobra. Nothing even comes close for 0-60 & 1/4 mile times for the money. Plus, spend $1K in bolt ons and stock 390hp jump to 500hp!)

Enjoy the ride for what it is!

Robert, Boosted is right it would take money. I have done the gear change and the predator. It makes a big differance when you hit second. I think I could hold my own with a mustang from the light. Big differance is the ssr is just very heavy no matter what you do. also everyone has a mustang. you have an ssr.

When you say "it just died on you"...

Did it slow down like it couldn't get enough fuel?
or could you have run up against the RPM limit and needed to shift?

I know the first time I manualy shifted from low gear to second at full throttle it took off like it was shot out of a cannon then all of a sudden the nose dived and it flat quit running until the tires quit spinning scared me bad enough that I opened the "How to Manual" and learned how, and when to turn "On and Off" the traction control button....

Just do not ask your truck to do it on dry pavement...LOL Leno and Gordon had a wetted down pad to get it going and still took it a while... I hate TQ managment!
Don't we all disable TC when we drive to get the xtra HP????? (Except those lucky  enough to drive in wet and snow on a regular basis?) Also does not hurt to power jack - as both of those guys never fully released the brake...
