After telling my salesman the problem, I asked him if I could have a couple of ashtrays from his floor model or demo Suburbans, Tahos or Avalanches, and he told me to just take them.

The one in the worthless little drawer is Velcroed in Place. The one in the console cupholder is just placed in there. Since these ashtrays have a pretty tight lid, if I need the cupholder, I just put the ashtray in the console for a while. Now I can have my ashtrays and see my gauges too.

when they installed the guages, did they even cut the floor carpet to put it in or just set it on top?

My fit was just fine, I just wanted to see them all the time....
