Sorry you got hurt! Really!!! I do want you to know that I use collisions like yours as a training aid for my five kids. In Michigan, there are many winter collisions and MANY of them involve smaller cars with occupants getting hurt badly. I point these out to my kids and say; "Yeah, but they got good mileage until they died!" A girl driving a Honda jumped/flew? over the center rail on I-75 and struck a full-sized Chevy pickup whose owner got a broken arm. She died. MANY examples like that happen here and yet I see so many young girls driving their cute little red cars. I point out to my kids that many factors should enter into buying decisions. Economy of our country, comfort, safety, etc. are all very important and I believe much more important than gas mileage. Glad you are into something bigger and American. thnx!

Bigger doesn't neccasrily mean safer. The president of a software company got t-boned like that in a little BMW Z-3. He walked away from the accident. He was so impressed he bought like a dozen of them for other employees.

A lot of those little foreign Japanese and German cars get a lot better results in the crash tests than American cars. Lot's of metal only means lots of metal in your lap. :)

Bigger generally DOES mean safer than small and what I see here in the winter has confirmed that. Another winter phenomenon is looking at what type of vehicles are in the ditches. RWD's. It is almost funny how ignorant people in RWD's can be in the winter. Also .... There are probably a lot of Germans that should appreciate that software company's boss.
