I have an 03' SSR (Vin #497) with 35,650 miles. I have pretty much decided that I need to purchase the GM Major Guard extended warranty. (And it has to happen before I hit 36,000 miles.) I found the rates below at one of the largest dealerships in the Detroit area. Does anyone happen to know if their dealer has rates better than any of these?

2 yrs/24,000 - $1075
2 yrs/30,000 - $1295
3 yrs/36,000 - $1795
3 yrs/45,000 - $2010
4 yrs/72,000 - $4095

Appreciate any help.. :willy:

I got a quote last Friday (2/24/06) for the GM Major Guard Extended Warranty for my recently purchased '05 SSR from Kevin Whitaker Chevrolet in Greenville, SC (864-271-2277) which EXTENDS the 3/36,000 to the following:

5/60,000 - $1,035
5/75,000 - $1,240
6/90,000 - $1,770

I don't know if this helps or not, but I thought I'd put my "2-cents" in.

Fichtner Chevrolet

Contact Dennis Fichtner at Fichtner Chevrolet for his competitive quote. There is as much mark-up on warranties as there is on parts.

Dennis should give you a price that will be hard to beat. I researched mine and he was lower than any I could find locally. Fichtner is one of the largest suppliers of extended warranties for GM vehicles. 406-628-4618

I'm sure prices have changed by now, but for reference, my '06 was $3200 in October of last year. 72 month, 100,000 mile, $0 deductable.

Those prices are way out of line.

Check these guys.

As I recall the dealer wanted $2500 while for the same coverage I was quoted ~1700 from the above guys. Wound up not buying either one. Don't know why.

Also if you have a local auto ins. agent, ask him, he may know someone local who brokers extended warranties for a good price.

Just my 2 cents...but I would highly recommend the GM/GMPP service contract...more so because of all the specialized parts on this vehicle...our F&I people could not tell me for sure if the parts for the retractable top would be covered by the non-GM policy we sell...is more expensive but highly worth it... alot fewer gray areas...
good luck:cool

Appreciate the replies!: Ricochet, Alex, Mike, beer, & Smkn04ssr

Called the two dealerships today. Whitaker was a little lower, though Fichtner's is tax-free and more convenient. Too close to call at this point. And still debating.. Only 375 miles left though.. Thanks again!! :willy:
