Ilsa's 5-year-old DieHard battery was showing signs of age - barely starting her a few times this winter when the temps were single digits and below. Once, there was so little charge that the radio clock stopped working, but she fired up (barely) anyway. That's a GOOD girl!

I replaced the battery this week with a DieHard Gold Advanced battery. https://www.consumerreports.org/products/car-battery/diehard-advanced-gold-50765-201574/overview/

This is a new type of battery called AGM. Absorbent Glass Mat (AGM) Battery Information - Battery University

Although it costs more then regular lead acid batteries, the description of it sounds like it's a much better product.

Around $200 at Sears.

It's working noticeably better so far, but that should be expected having replaced a five-year-old battery.

There sure was a lot of rust on the battery box.
