Hello all! Just traded my 2004 vette for a 2004 SSR purple. I have had three vettes and simpy wanted something different!
Have only driven my new SSR a few days and I really enjoy it. The speed of the corvette is fun, but can cause problems with the law and your old fart neighbors. I like the nostalgia of the SSR and the hot rod appearance. I was able to make a clean trade no money involved because of the red tag sale now in effect. The SSR is much more unique than the vette, it's fun to watch peoples reaction when they see such a classy rod. If they stop making the SSR as some have said I can only think it will become more valuable.

Welcome Moonlight cruz! Most of us feel exactly the same as you do. I too had a number of Vettes and I just fell in love with our beautiful SSRs. No matter what the market (values) might bring... the fun and excitement will be well worth it. You only live once and as 17of25 always says "...live it up and go to your grave completely used and fulfilled." (something like that) HA! :cheers

My sacrifices

I traded in a 98 Corvette convertible and sold a 2003 Ford Harley 100th Anniv Pickup outright for my 05 SSR. Couldn't be happier.

:party Hi everyone I'm new to the forum too!! It's been very informative so far. I just acquired my 05 Aqua Blur automatic about a month ago. Love it!! I got rid of 2 Corvettes (2001 conv. and 1981 coupe) for the SSR. I guess it was time for a change. Haven't had much opportunity to drive as the weather has gone down the tubes here in the northeast but the limited driving time I've had it's been a blast. My primary ride is a 05 Cadilac Escalade EXT which is a great ride also. I look forward to reading more stuff about the SSR. Jim O :thumbs

That's what I like living in Arizona I had the top down in the sun out on the road. You all can go visit yours in the garage. :lol

snow/ssr parked

Put the G35 in with the SSR this evening as we are expecting 10-15 inches of snow. I think that will be it for both vehicles until late March.

A lot of salt is used in this area......good for body shops but, not so, for vehicles.

My wife gets quite a chuckle in the way I react to our new truck at times. It is indeed a sweet riding machine. Even for an introvert like myself, it sure feels good!

Cheers

moonlight cruz,

As a person who also went from Corvette's to an SSR, I have noticed one very different fact. - EVERYONE loves to see an SSR. Old people, young people, truck people, sports car people, everyone! With my Corvette, I felt that everyone thought I was trying to "show them up", but with the SSR, everybody seems to smile at it!

Enjoy it and welcome to the forum.

As much as I like the SSR when I tried to trade for a 2005 the the rebate thing killed it so i got rid of it, I love my new vette a whole lot of power.

Hey Mark what's up?
Hey Bert,

Hope I didn' hurt your feelings about the way people treat Corvettes compared to SSR's. Believe me, I ate, drank and breathed Corvettes for over 20 years and I still love them, but it seems that Corvette owners have always taken a bum rap as snooty or stuck-up. Oh, there are a few of them, but on the whole, most Corvette people are pretty friendly.

Enjoy that C6, it just HAS to be an awsome car!
