Unreal is all I can say. The dealer had promised to have my SSR in detailed gassed up and ready to go today.
As part of the dealer trade, they sent a guy to go drive it back. They say it ran out of gas on the freeway and now they can't get it started so they need to put it on a flatbed and get the shop to look at it in the morning.
I'm so pissed right now I may just let them keep it.

Gosh don't do that... you will be so sorry that you missed out in owning such an awesome vehicle! Ask the dealer to make it up to you someway some how...

I agree

I'm with Marc.

Let the dealer make it up in some way. :thumbs

Once they run out of gas you don't just jump in and start it back up. You have to turn the key to the on position (not run) to activate the fuel pump (this will run for up to 4 seconds) then turn the key back off. Repeat this about 3-4 times then wait 5 secondes and start the vehicle.
On the bad side, if they cranked and cranked on the ignition with out doing this proceduer they may have burnt up the fuel pump :banghead . Still a simple fix, but costly on their part.

You'll love it once you get it ;)

I'm Still Seeing Murphy

Well, I still want the truck. My wife is lees enthusiasic now. Maybe if she sees it in the garage. Today I wait to hear from the dealer as to what the problem really was, if they fixed it, and if I can pick it up.
More to follow. :cuss

The Saga Continues

The salesman is off today. Got a "fill-in" to look into what's wrong with the SSR. So far no word. I wonder if they really want to sell cars or not. Maybe I can get it tonight but I have my doubts. I'm thinking they need to get me a shop manual and a discount at the parts counter. :confused

Why not,
IT NEVER HURTS TO ASK, BECAUSE THEY PROBABLY WON'T OFFER MUCH MORE THAN AN " I'M SORRY FOR THE TROUBLE" IF YOU DON'T.
Good luck.

Got It!

:party

It actually happened last night. Finished the deal on my new SSR and drove it home. The deal was at invoice (not MSRP) less the owner loyalty incentive ($1500). For all the trouble they had in getting it here I had them give me a shop manual for 'free'. I'm still pissed about the lying to me. One saleman says they ran it out of gas, the other says the dealer trade guy can't drive a stick very well. Not sure how they killed it on the 405. Seems ok now but the check engine light is on already (I'm thinking lemons) so we'll see how the dealer handles that on Monday. Enjoying the looks and questions in the meantime since my '65 convertible is torn apart looking for new engine parts...

Congrats

CONGRATS ON YOUR PURCHASE !

SOMETHING TO CONSIDER , I SEE ALOT OF DEALER BASHING ON THIS SIGHT (AND I AM NOT ONE) BUT YOUR RESPONSES TELL US THAT THE DEALER DID A TRADE WITH ANOTHER DEALER TO GET YOU THE SSR YOU WANTED,HIRED A DRIVER TO DRIVE IT IN , DETAILED IT , GASSED IT UP , GAVE YOU A SHOP MANUAL , PAID A SALES PERSON TO HANDLE THE TRANSACTION , ALL OF WHICH COST THE DEALER MONEY TO DO , THEN HE SOLD IT TO YOU AT ABSOLUTE COST AND MADE NO MONEY !

BE CONSIDERATE MONDAY MORNING WHEN YOU GO TO THE DEALER TO GET THE SERVICE YOU EXPECT AND PAID FOR . HE CERTAINLY SOUNDS LIKE A PRINCE OF A GUY. :cheers

I have never had one purchase that hasn't had some kind of "faux pas" occur.
Either too much wait time, prep time, missing something, re negotiations, lots of weird stuff..........

You have her in yer hands!!! Let the dealer make you happy.........sounds like you have a dealer who is willing to make things right........Enjoy her today, and let em do their job tomorrow :) Its a clear sunny day on the 405, get her out there with the Top Down!!!

At the risk of starting another "color" thread :eek .......what Color???

:cheers CONGRATS!!! :party

First off, I'm ok with the dealer and will be cool with them tomorrow. I figured out what happened when they drove it down from the other dealer and you can read about that in the thread about the clutch pedal staying on the floor - really sucks in traffic...

Color - the choice was made more by process of elimination. The Aqua Blur is almost the same color as my other truck so that was out. The black is great but I didn't want every speck if dust to show every minute so that is out. The Yellow is too loud (for me) so that one was out. My old convertible is red so that one is out which leaves the much maligned (in this forum) color of Silver.
Also has 1Sb package, wood trim in bed, tow bar, cargo net, upgraded floor mats, running boards, chrome wheels, aux gauges, oh yeah did I mention the six speed trans - SWEET. :cheers
