Several people have asked me already about the itinerary, here is my proposal. Changing date to arrive on Tuesday June 8th. (Still working on motel in Rapid City they don't have rates yet for next year.) Wednesday morning drive to Hill City take the late morning 1880 steam engine train from Hill City to Keystone it's about an hour and a half ride each way. Grab a late lunch in Keystone and then come back to Hill City. Have dinner at the Alpine Inn in Hill City they open at 5 p.m. We were there and they had the best filet mignon at a reasonable price. (Dessert was delicious also). There are other restaurants close by if you don't like filet mignon. Thursday morning drive through the Needles, visit Crazy Horse memorial and see the buffalo in Custer Park. (Trying to find a place for lunch).Having dinner at Mount Rushmore and stay and see the illumination at night. Friday drive to Deadwood spend the whole day there. Saturday if you want to drive West to devil's tower and then come back East to Walls Drug store then to the Badlands. @Augie Doggie is helping me on that end and giving me suggestions. Any input is appreciate it. Rapid City is a good location to stay overnight, the distances to all these sites are within a reasonable time. Robert.

Back in 2012 the Rocky Mountain SSR group held the "THE ACES AND FACES TOUR" in Deadwood. SD.
We all stayed in The Lodge At Deadwood. The place was very new and nice and we were treated well with special SSR parking, hoses & buckets for washing SSRs, etc. Here's a link to the hotel showing what they offer. Hotel
This was one of the best SSR events ever!!
Not sure if we will be ready or able to make the one in 2021, but will try.

That sounds good. I might suggest some cave touring. But that can be done individually or small groups. Mount Rushmore should be on everyone's bucket list. The drive coming in through the tunnel is very impressive.

We have been there many times including our honeymoon. That was in mid June. It was very hot then triple digit, so we had to stop often and rest the horses more often.

Doesn't sound much like fun to me ... after driving 2 days to get there, my idea of fun is sleep til 9, get up, sit on the porch, have 2 or 3 Bloody Mary's (made with GIN) brought to me by a Playboy Bunny (we are staying at the Sturgis Playboy Club aren't we ???), a Country Ham breakfast, think I'll even smoke a Stogie after breakfast too. ENTER the conversation at this time ... SWT RYD & Handyman Fowler "cozydog shut up, you'll be 81 by the time we go, may be your last chance to have some fun, but sit on the porch if you want too WE"RE GONNA HAVE SOME FUN" "OK, OK, I'll go, what time we leaving and where we meetin' to caravan up. I'M READY (hope Bonnie is still puttin' up with me by then). Just haven' fun this morning Robert, feel good, ready to get my left eye worked on Thursday. Sure enjoyed that drive yesterday AFTER we left Petersburg. Bob Alexander ... tennesseecozydog. :D:D:D:D:D🇺🇲 🇺🇲 🇺🇲 🇺🇲 🇺🇲 (y) (y) (y) (y) (y)
