North Carolina Owner with hydraulic cylinder leak

This is my first post. I am actually looking for an RGang located near me. I've had my Yellow 04 SSR since September and really enjoy driving it. I've enjoyed reading a lot of the posts; there's a lot of knowledgeable owners here. I'm looking for someone with experence working on the top hydraulics to R&R the 2 main cylinders. I understand i will have to remove the cylinders, send them to get rebuilt, and then have the reinstalled. I am located in Salisbury. NC which is about 1 hour from Charlotte and about 2 hours from Raleigh. Any infor very much appreciated.

Thanks Dictator! When I first started reading on SSR Fanatic I kept reading that I didn't need to change all 8 cylinders at the same time, only the one leaking and the same one on the other side. Now I'm reading to change all at the same time becaust is such a job and most are saying it's only a short time before other cylinders will start leaking. Which of these do you think is the best; I do appreciate your advise.
Thanks to everyone for all the welcomming responces and information concerning the hydraulics problem, seems to be a lot of wonderful people here!

There are also two hydraulic cylinders that latch and lock the tonneau cover for the roof compartment, for a total of eight. In the brief three and a half years that I've been reading the posts in this forum I recall just one person mentioning the "Latch/Lock" cylinders as having a leak in a new post. I agree with you in regards to not rebuilding a pair of non-leaking struts. The Main Lift Cylinders do the heavy work. The assist struts help support the load as the main lift cylinders raise and lower the top. With so few reports of hydraulic leaks in any cylinders other than the Main Lift Cylinders, I'd think the philosophy of "If it ain't broke, don't fix it" applies.
Thanks for the info, I agree.
All cylinders are not necessary at this time. There are 6 hydraulic cylinders and 2 helper struts. The two main cylinders do the main lifting and take more stress. The helper struts assist the weight of the roof on the main cylinders. Now that being said, everything ages out so I suspect the other four cylinders that operate the flaps will become an issue down the road. As of right now, I've only heard of a few of those needing rebuilt.
Thanks Firetruck

There are (8) Hydraulic Cylinders, (4) Solenoids that drive hydraulic cylinders. Each Solenoid drives TWO hydraulic cylinders that is why they MUST be rebuilt in pairs. Can't' buy NEW ones!!

Yes, TWO Main Roof Lift cylinders usually leak first because they do the "heavy" lifting. BUT would you rebuild your (8) cylinder engine TWO cylinders at a time? Cab Hydraulics will rebuild cylinders in pairs.

I recommend that you rebuild TWO main lift cylinders first. Yes, I did all eight on mine ten years ago.

PLUS, our Roof has TWO pneumatic cylinders that "buffer" lift and lower to extend the life of the hydraulic cylinders.

How do you know that pneumatics cylinders are bad? Lower the Roof, when it gets within 3 inches of open, IF roof goes "KLUNK" you have BAD pneumatics. CHANGE THEM!! You can order from Mike aka Simple Engineering. Don't wait!

Roof like R is 20 years old or almost. I go to doctor more often than I did when I was NEW!!

Thanks Dictator, no KLUNK so I'm just going to fix the 2 main lift cylinders.

Hey Dictator, Thanks again, not just for the info, UT for convincing me to do what I already new was the right thing to do (rebuild the whole hydraulic system). Question: should I have the pump rebuilt also? I don't know what at age they usually go bad. Thanks in advance for all advise!

Rgang can help you but you would need to make the drive to Orlando area as others have indicated. Let me know if you are interested and I will start a conversation with so we can talk.
I am interested in getting you to R&R my hydraulic cylinders. Thanks in advance!
