The one thing that I have had the hardest time getting used to is backing up my SSR!

I can't tell you how many times I have backed into a parking spot and felt I was just about to hit the fence/building/another car (pick one) and gotten out of the car to check and see that I am still FOUR FEET away from the obstacle!!!

Get back in, move it back a little and get out again! TWO FEET TO GO! (And of course having a KEWL car, everyone looking at me. I feel so silly!)

Do you think that this would work? CLICK HERE

Be Nice

Guys - be nice! :nono I admit I did get some laughs though.

I can relate. I wonder how well the gadget/gizmo works. I don't know if I would do it or not. I would be scared to trust the technology of it. What if it stops working and you've gained trust in it. If you do decide to install keep us posted.

We use photo eye and prox sensors all the time in the canning factory. (Safety stops and machine timing) They are very dependable, until the clean up crew hoses them down with high pressure hoses. Once they blow water inside or steam that fog's them up, they are trash.

I know how you feel. When I arrived at the rendevous point a couple weeks back to meet some other :ssr Fanatics three of them were already there...BACKED IN. I looked at my husband and said "I can't do that"...my face was soooooo red! Then, 2 more of the guys showed up and they backed in...out of 6 of us, I was the only one facing the other direction. Anyway, it gave passing motorists both views! :lol

Hey Buffy, they work great. My wife has the same problem with her PT convertable and we put a system on it. You can back up to within 6" of something with no problem. I feel the after market one works better than the two factory systems we have had. :cool :cool

This is kind of nice. It integrates with the mirror.

There's also models where you don't have to drill holes for the sensors. But they all require you to wire into the backup lights and brake lights if you want sensors on the front of the vehicle.

However, right now I'm looking for some sort of radar system. :lol
I think you want the Guardian Alert system. They work through the plastic bumper cover, nothing shows.
:thumbs

I think I read somewhere that microwave systems require either the truck or the object to be moving before any warning is generated. So if you park too close to something, you may not get a warn before it's too late.

Camera Tech

I too was thinking about hooking up a mini camera to my license plate, and an LED screen in my ashtray or below it. I found a company that sells them out of Texas for around $250 and any local stereo shop can hook them up.
I have a side garage that I constantly have to make 3 stop and go turns to get in and out, as well at work there's cars and bikes behind me all the time, just waiting for the time I run into something!

And I thought I had that problem -- The minute I drove my SSR from the Chevy dealer I drove down and had back up sensors installed and a navigational which I have a camera in back , so now I can see or hear behind me , and when I go forward it will tell me how to get there -- The screen is located by the ash tray , with the beeping and the screen showing me what is up haven't hit a thing yet

That wouldn't be Supercircuts would it? They have lots of neat stuff. Including mobile digital video recorders.

I've dreamed of having a forward looking camera connected to one of those. There is so much rush hour stupidity I see, it would make a good show.

I really like the license plate model I got from Reverse Backing Systems http://www.reversebackingsystems.com cause you don't have to put holes in the bumper!!

Plus, you can move it to the next SSR without buying a new parking sensor!
