What options do you wish you had or could live without?

#1 6speed / auto - for me gotta be this time 6speed

#2 License plate bracket- we have no choice but to order in CA

#3 Customised floor mats- do you put a clear cover on them to keep them nice?

#4 Auxilary Gauge- does it complete the dash & give the info you want

#5 Chrome Wheels-I love the look on Smokin Asphalt-expen$ive

#6 1SB-a given

#7 cargo Compartment trim-not sure

#8 body colored accent pkg-convince me I need this

#9 Integrated running boards- I like it with or without need help deciding

#10 cargo netting package- can this be added later for same price of $220.00?
is this what I would put my briefcase in groceries etc?

#11 cockpit windbrake- who got this and then replaced with WindsuppreSSR

#12 Integrated sidesaddle storage-

#13 towing package: hitch insert-

1) 6 speed fo sho
2) i told them i wouldn't buy the car if it had a front license plate on it - i'll take my chances (knock on head)
3) haven't - figure i'll buy new ones down the road - my girlfriend and i are pretty careful
4) haven't decided if I'm going to get this or not - leaning against it since I have some custom plans for an install once I cut out the ash tray crap ;-)
5) i went with the standard wheels on my SA - chrome was too much $ and too much bling
6) yup
7) nah
8) nah
9) definitely - looks better overall and hides the exposed underbody
10) dunno
11) didn't want it - went with windsuppressr, much better buy
12) space is tight enough as it is without giving it up to those compartments
13) i didn't bother, my boat is too heavy for this thing and i hardly ever tow these days

*Good choice if you love shifting! :yesnod

#2 License plate bracket- we have no choice but to order in CA
*You can always opt to use one of the a few newer design brackets that are listed on our site! :yesnod

#3 Customised floor mats- do you put a clear cover on them to keep them nice?
*I love the looks too much to even think of covering them! Hint buy another pair just for show! ;)

#4 Auxilary Gauge- does it complete the dash & give the info you want
* YES! a "MUST HAVE"... I would get the matching color ones - 05s only (can always add later too).

#5 Chrome Wheels-I love the look on Smokin Asphalt-expen$ive
*I like both wheels... but then I do lean towards those awesome spinning chrome wheels!

#6 1SB-a given
:yesnod can't order that package after*

#7 cargo Compartment trim-not sure
*Best to get it on the vehicle rather than try to add later. (I love mine)

#8 body colored accent pkg-convince me I need this
*Great either way... a personal preference. ;)

#9 Integrated running boards- I like it with or without need :thumbs help deciding
*It looks beautiful either way... however I must say I do like the way it ties in the body lines and helps protect the fenders from stones.

#10 cargo netting package- can this be added later for same price of $220.00?
is this what I would put my briefcase in groceries etc?
*I would say get one of the "new" soft-side-storage bag options. :thumbs

#11 cockpit windbrake- who got this and then replaced with WindsuppreSSR
*Each one has its advanatages... I actually like both of them.

#12 Integrated sidesaddle storage-
*Opt for one of the two new storage options (pics are posted in another thread)

#13 towing package: hitch insert-
*I didn't order one... however if it doesn't come with your ride then you can always buy one if you need it later
*Hmmm I bet you knew already that you could customise it just about any way you like it! ;)

1 - Auto
2- Did not want one or need one
3- Had Dad get a new set for me for a spare. He works at the Dealer.
4- Did not get...Nothing down there to realy look at.
5- Had to have them..Mine is a Smoking Asphault..
6- Oh yea...
7- I love the look of the wood...And the carpet!
8- Love it!
9- I have the satin ones and love them...Even though I step over them to get into the truck.
10- I do not know the add onprice later but Love mine..It with black sheet under it to help prevent scratchs on the wood trim..
11- Did not want one. I got a convertible so my hair could be blown in the wind. what little I have left...LOL
12- Did not get this option as I thought it would take away the wood strip floor.
13- Got it..I have a motorcycle that I like to take places also....

Bottom line to me is... As long as you own an SSR the rest is all gravy...

Though I am without SSr these days and looking for another (ultra or silver), my son, who has a new Asphalt and I discussed and have concluded:

#1 6speed / auto – I live in a city and the 6 speed is really not practical…., but wonder why we cannot have the 5 or 6 speed auto which, to me, is the way to go!

#2 License plate bracket- we have to have or get ticketed

#3 Customised floor mats- Have both. Normally use the standard mats….

#4 Auxilary Gauge- nice to have but does come with issues.

#5 Chrome Wheels- only with Asphalt and without boards

#6 1SB-a waste of money in my view but how do I get the heated seats?

#7 cargo Compartment trim- a must have.

#8 body colored accent pkg- am not a fan….

#9 Integrated running boards- if you do not put 3M film along the rocker panels what else will provide protection> we prefer the film and took off the Boards…. Body color if you order the chrome wheels!

#10 cargo netting package- a waste, except the one time you need it to restrain whatever is rolling around in the compartment!?

#11 cockpit windbreak- not sure. Seems like a flimisy piece of crap to me.

#12 Integrated sidesaddle storage- one might be nice to have but know of no one who gives this RPA any value.

#13 towing package: hitch insert – have found it to be VERY valuable. Keeps people from parking too close to the rear the truck and also is helpful if you want to tow your <2500lbs boat.

Note that all but 1SB and Cargo Trim are readily available as RPA's at nearly the same price you will pay when you order your truck and are easy to install. Only real question when you order is 1SB or not and Cargo Trim or not. :seeya

Options

#1 Automatic unless 2007 "Z" only comes with a 6 speed

#2 Take it if you have to.. find a different way to hang the plate

#3 Good option for shows..Have heavyduty rubber ones for everday driving

#4 Aux gages are just decoration..go for the Self-dimming Mirror with Compass & Outside temp gage

#5 Chrome wheels look good on certain colors.

#6 Not worth the money

#7 Cargo trim is a big moisture magnet, weighs down cargo cover.

#8 Only like body colored engine cover insert.

#9 Looks better without boards.

#10 Cargo netting is worthless

#11 Windbreak is impossible to see thru at night.

#12 Side saddle are storage units are worthless

#13 Towing package is good if you really have to pull something

6speed / auto 6 speed is more fun

lisence bracket If forced to I'll find another way to hang plate.

customized floor mats standard mats for me

auxilary gauge these gauges not that important to me and I didn't want to cut the carpet to install

chrome wheel I like polished wheels better than chrome, so when and if my satin silver wheels ever get chipped up, I'll then have them polished.

1SB perfect for me

cargo compartment bed liner better for me

body color accent pkg. not for me

running boards is better with than with out

cargo netting didn't need it

**** pit wind break sold mine, not that windy to me. Is also hard to see with it at night time.

integrated side saddle storage a must for me

towing package insert got it, but I'll never use it

There is no GM offered compass/temp mirror option yet.

Mark,
Can all the carpeting be removed? Or rather, Is there a vinyl bed liner under the carpet kit? For some reason I've been under the impression it was one or the other.
Yes you can remove the carpeting however I have no idea if the vinyl bed liner is under the carpet liner (I would be inclined to think that there is no liner under the carpet)

Ps Why not find an after market floor protector/cover for your bed?

Under the carpet is a bad paint job. Plastic bed liner is the supplied if carpet is not ordered. Bare paint under cargo lid. I just spent close to $1000 to change to finished bed, well worth it.
