Just an FYI, I checked a search tonight looking into how many new 05's were in my area (Chicago ,IL) and I then checked for new 04's too. 141 shown available in the country advertised as NEW. There have to be some great deals waiting out there if someone wants an 04. I bought my 04 in Feb and honestly got $18,000 off the just over $48K MSRP. I'm sure you could do even better now. Heard on the radio

I just heard this on the radio but did not go and check it out (since I'm not in the market for another vehicle), but a dealer in Southern NJ said that they are giving $1000 off the GM Employee Price! (Marc...I don't have proof :) )

If it was true........

I've seen ads out here that offer 'incentives' AND the Employee discount!

Example of better than employee discount

For anyone in the market!

Here is an example of better than GM employee pricing. Maybe they don't want to be stuck when the 2006 comes in at a lower MSRP.

Last week someone posted the 2005 production numbers on another thread. They also posted all of the units sold from 2004 through 2005. If memory serves me, just under thirty percent of the units produced to date are still available for sale. If this information is indeed correct then there are going to be a heck of a lot more units than buyers once the 06 production begins. See the link below.

This being said, and considering the fact that they are discounting the LS2 05's down to 42K average what do you think this will do to the price of a New 04?

That was back in Feb of 2005 when GM had the special GM card earnings deal. My small $400 in GM earnings were matched and ramped up or what ever to a full $6,000. It also helped a lot to have a Carmax dealership only an hour away selling 3 new 04 SSR's at $11,000 less than MSRP at the time. Nothing motivates a dealer to talk price than others in the area with advertised pricing.

Look around - there is a lot of new 04 stock out there with few if any miles on them. The same dealers are sitting on new 05's so the buyer has the advantage now. Wait until the last few days of the month (dealers always need to meet quotas at the end of the month) and go strike your deal. I threw out my offer back in Feb and it was below $30 plus taxes. I walked out with my new 04 that list for just over $48,000 for just over $31,000 including all the taxes & fees. If you are serious and the dealer wants to move their stock you can get the deal you wanted. But, I still see dealers advertising only a few thousand off 04's so buyer beware. Good luck.
