I wouldn't trade for the '05 for several reasons. I didn't buy the SSR to race it, I bought it for what it was intended for, a cruiser. I personally believe it has plenty of power for it's intended purpose. I love to drive it and I drive it every day. At the price of gas now if the mileage was any worse and I had to put premuim gas in it, I'd probably have to drive it less. I've already done quite a few little detail upgrades to it and after it's lowered and the ghost flames are painted, I'd hate to have to start over again. As with anything we buy it's all a personal thing with each of us and these are only my personal opinions.

Yeap!:)

The CTS V is an awsome car. But if you decide to by one , be sure that it has the GM extended warranty.
The car has 2 weak points. One, the fluid filled motor mounts tend to fail. Two, they tend to grenade the the rear differentials, a major problem. It was slightly addressed on 05, but did not completely solve the problem. The car sufferes a lot of rear axle hop on hard accelleration. Not just on burnouts, but also sometimes just when exiting a corner under hard acceleration. They have been known to grenade sometimes just slipping in the rain. GM really came up short on the fix of this problem when they they subtituted the stock sticky gatorback tire with the Goodyear RSA. The RSA has such poor traction that it effectively reduced the axle hop problem, but at a great loss of handling and acceleration performance.(sound familiar?) They did, however, continue to offer the gaterback as a no cost option. I believe there is some federal investigation of the differential problem in the works.
That whole problem would not discourage me from buying a CTS V though any more than the problems common to the SSR kept me from buying mine.I would just be sure that it had the 6 year 100,000 mile Cadillac certified used car warranty. Avoiding attempts of all out off the line takeoffs, is what most of the present spirited owners finally arrived at to avoid the axle hop and the disintergrating rear diffs. after they went through a few. By the way, there are ssome great deals on low mileage V's. I just almost bought an 05 with 12,000 miles for 26K with full warranty.
Or you could just put some money down on the 09 CTS v which has the same LS 9 motor as in the new ZR 1:jester.
They supposedly will not have the axle hop problem.

No you shouldn't have:nono

What might have been better is if you had created a new thread with links to all those oldies. Kind of like that one to all those SSR related videos that SSR-Club.com posted.:thumbs

You're still a "rookie" high mileage moderator and got a long ways to go.:lol

I started a link post, but realized that "bumping" was going to be more efficient. I was just bumping open threads without regard to what they were, but after bumping this one, decided not to bump them all.....

Is today bump day? :lol
