Has anyone replaced their Powertrain Control Module
(19210071)
with the Vin Number preprogrammed?
Remanufactured only at this point.
Some seem to have special Tunes.
What are the Pro’s and Con’s?
How does it affect all the other electronics?
What do you recommend?
What has been your experience?
I'm asking because I know nothing about this.

OK, 05/06 have an ECM - ENGINE CONTROL MODULE, 03/04 have PCM - POWER CONTROL MODULE.

ECM has 200 times more software then 03/04.

We have Multiplex wiring Class 2 with communication link. ALL modules talk to each other.

BCM - BODY CONTROL MODULE and RADIO have to be programed to vin# of SSR. Radio is our SECURITY SYSTEM.

Dealer is the only one that can "flash" ECM and program to your SSR.

Here is link to my SSR HOW TO LIBRARY, good reading.

It's kind of difficult to bring your SSR to the local Chevy Dealer when they keep asking
"What's an SSR?".
Thanks for the input Dicktator.
I see that you have to be very careful as to what is advertised
versus what is real.
