went down and finally got the predator. I installed with the dealer in about 10 minutes. He let me take it for a spin before I paid him. If I did not like it he said he would put it back to stock. I could feel the differance. I notice the shifts were betterand I had more get up and go in the lower gears. The mechanic told me to go in and change the shift even more. aprox 15%. and it would make a great differance. I will play tomorrow. I also picked up a 180 thermostat which he said would make the ssr run cooler and better. You can go in to the parameters and change the times the fans come on. Very simple to install just follow the instructions on the screen.

I meant the dealer I purchased the chip from. The predator memorizes your stock setting and any time you want to go back to the factory settings it takes about 5 to 10 minutes. When you want to put it back to performance mode you just load it up

Let us know how you make out with the changes to the shift points, and what settings you used for best results.

I really liked to know!!!

shift points

I went up to 10% on the shift points and minus 5% on shift time which makes it shift quiker. Awsome differance. I am going to play with it a little to see what works best. I can tell a sizable differance in the power or torque. Well worth the money for the improvements.

Russr,

Does up 10% on the shift point means it shifts at a higher rpm?

speds no. You can change the shift at the rpm level or mph level if you want. I have not messed with that. The 10% that I changed is the shift pressure. I also changed the shift speed. By doing this the transmission now shifts with a hard positive shift instead of the slow shift it had before.

Soooo... I could adjust it to stay out of fourth until the mph was above, say 40?

yes you can adust it to shift at any speed or rpm you like. It has an adjustment for each shift. The other nice thing about the predator is it is also a diagnostic tool. You can erase or check any engine lites that come on. You can also take the limiter off of the top speed so you can go fasterrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

OK Russr04,

You've got me salivating now. :yesnod

I have been WAITING for some way to control the fans and lower the temps. Also to stiffen up the shifts.

One thing you didn't mention was the price and where you got it!

Somebody please explain this to me! I believe all of you that say that your shifting feels better when it's quicker, or it runs better when it's cooler, etc. But I can't understand why it doesn't come from the factory this way! It can't be more expensive, so there has to be a reason for the softer shifting and hotter thermostat, etc. Is it just something to do with emissions?

Somebody educate me (and others, too!). :confused

It is a Diablosport Predator tunable preformance progamer. Model #DS97005 for 2004 GM's. Price is 400 dollars. Well worth it. Not only will it allow you to fine tune your SSR, it will also pull your codes if you get a light and tell you the problem.
Peaches stock autos are all set up the same way. I am sure it has something to do with emissions, but also mass production cost. For example the stock ssr comes witha single muffler that has both sides choked down into one. This is because of cost. The change to a dual system will increase fuel milage and preformance. Just one example of many.
