Radio Reception

After installing my Kenwood Stereo system, the FM reception has become very poor. I suspect this is caused by two factors. 1. Signal loss from the coax adaptor that goes from GM style to Motorola style, and the added length of the coax extension to the hideaway unit.

2. Possible loss of power to the antenna signal booster module. This module, located behind the pillar trim, needs battery voltage to provide boost to the film type antenna that the SSR uses.

My radio was installed with a GM- METRA adapter that retains the door chimes and other features, to see if it supplies power to the antenna booster through the radio harness. If not, then I may need to supply power to the antenna booster.

For you folks that are having reception problems, you may want to check the antenna booster for power/ blown fuse.
