This weekend I was talking with Mike from Top Down Tech. He makes a great tool for Corvetes that allows you to do various things like raise and lower the windows from outside of the car. You use your existing key fob to do it.

Anyway, we had an SSR at our Corvette cruise-in. Mike was able to capture all of the information from the computer to develop the same type of tool for the SSR. If all goes as planned you can push a button within fob range and watch the top go up and down. :cheers

Hopefully he will have something available soon. I'll let you know when he's ready with them.

Thanks Troy!
Sounds pretty cool. Does it come with a spare battery for the car when it goes dead from playing (demonstrating) the top??

There was a thread a while back where someone on here wanted a way to raise and lower the top from outside. I forwarded that on to Mike at Top Down Tech and he decided to look into it. He was able to get a hold of an SSR at our big Corvette cruise-in in Bowling Green Kentucky over Memorial Day.

Thanks to whomever suggested having a way to do that! You got it all started.

Count me in...I'm there. I would love something like that. Would it come with everything needed...instructions for us (ok..me) dummies??

Temporary bad news from Mike:

Unfortunately, the data I collected from the SSR was non-conclusive.
There was nothing there that would enable me to create a product to
lower the top. That doesn't mean it can't be done, but I'll need an
updated GM Tech II to see how to communicate with the modules that
control the top. It looks to me that there's no bus communications
required for the top during normal usage. (When the driver's door on a
C5 lets up the driver's window, there's no related bus activity. but
there is if the driver's door controls the passenger's window.) It's
likely that the top control is all local, but its also likely available
from the bus in a diag mode.

When I get back to CA, I'll look into finding a local SSR to experiment
with.
