I just purchased my SSR last saturday, and I was at the dealership with a friend yesterday as he was looking into purchasing one as well. I noticed on the other SSR when you pop the cargo cover it actually pops up quite a bit where you can raise it easily. On mine however when you pop the lid you have to raise it from the corner because it doesn't pop up hardly at all.

Which one is correct?
I also noticed that the tailgate shuts a lot easier on the one that actually "pops up".

Thanks!

There are many posts on the subject but I think RonC brought up a point to look into. The fact that the hood popped up on the one that the tailgate closed easier on might help. We have been trying silicone and lubricants. Maybe just a slight adjustment on the tailgate or cover would help out the problem. Taking a little pressure off of the seal at the tailgate might be just enough to let it pop. I noticed on mine when the tailgate is down the cover pops up completely every time. With the tailgate up its a hit or miss deal.

Hey, Rom

Check to see if the one that popped fully had the padding kit on the lid - makes a big difference on weight.

BINGO dingbat... You may have hit on a great idea there...
maybe there is a way that the tailgates can be tweaked/adjusted to help ease the lift problems some of us are experiencing.

The one that fully popped did have the liner in it as well. Both trucks were identical except for color.

I'd almost have to agree that it's something with the tailgate or cargo cover adjustment. I have to slam my tailgate pretty hard to get it to fully close, but the other one closed A LOT better...

HMMMMM

FYI I did use the "Search" function.

I just went out and gave mine a good look over. The cover looks like it is perfectly aligned. Lines between panels are all the same. If I were to move the cover forward it might effect the top compartment cover panels. The tailgate also is aligned perfectly. It seems like the little bit of friction between the tailgate and the cover rubber is what is holding it from popping. The rubber is glued in place. Do any of you know if the rubber could be moved forward a little without damaging it?
Another possibility would be the addition of some sort of helper spring on the brackets holding the cover. It wouldn't have to have a lot of tension. Just enough to give it a push.
