This morning my SSR was rear ended by a lady in an Acura TL. It was just a love tap I learned, but at the moment of impact I feared the worse.
As I exited my SSR I exclaimed, "I can't believe you hit my NEW truck" only to receive her response, "you're not the only one with a new car".
That set me off. As I was inspecting any possible damage I responded with my finger in her face not to smart off to me that way.
Fearing unseen damage I suggested we pull over so i could get her insurance information.
She sped off and I had to follow her for 32 miles until I could convince her to roll down her window so I could tell her we needed to stop, she agreed and also wanted MY insurance information. Whatever. She also said, "my car's new too."('05 Acura TL)
"OKkkk, but I didn't hit you Dumb#%*" is what I wanted to say, but held my tongue and sent her on her speedy way. :boxing

Further inspection shows no damage but I will have it looked at anyway.

Funny thing is is that I was completely stopped and had been for some time in a turn lane with her behind me for the same amount of time when I guess she had a brain fart and decided to bump me along. Or maybe she was just mesmerized on how good lookin' my SSR was compared to her crapcura and wanted to get even a closer look. I'm not sure why she did it, an accident I understand, I just don't see it here.

Well I hope this was the SSR initiation into being my commuting vehicle and I never encounter drivers such as her again, but you never know, it's just frustrating.

Thanks for letting me vent, a helluva way to start the day. :confused

my reaction

to that type of flirting might be that I punch her in the face...my way of kissing in that instance :lol but it wouldn't do anyone any good especially my SSR.

Tomorrow is another day, I'll leave her in the garage.

I think it would of been really cool if you rolled forward enough to slip your trailer hitch in place and give her radiator a love tap and blame it on her!!!! I think what happens is they are watching on coming traffic and they see a spot were they think you should go so they go, thinking you are going to move.
My .02 cents

I akways keep my hitch bar on when I'm doing the traffic thing, just to give me a little more protection for stuff like this.

I'm confused.
Didn't you say in a post a while back that leaving the hitch on for a situation where you might get tapped in the rear wasn't a good idea??? I thought it was you that said it could cause damage to the frame that wouldn't be visible.
If it wasn't you someone else brought that point up a while ago.

Leaving the scene of an accident is illegal (at least it is in FL). You could have just taken down the plate and had the B---- arrested.

thanks

everyone for sympathizing. You are all right in that I should've called the police but then driving 100mph to catch up to her once traffic cleared wouldn't have been as much fun. I believe she really thought she could outrun an SSR :lol :lol :lol :nono

I'm putting it behind me hopefully and kissing my SSR when I get home.

Been there, it sucks.

My silverado's been hit 3 times. The first was the worst (just two months after I had bought it too) where I took damage to the bumper and the lower edge of the tail gate. However, the second time I had my hitch installed, so the guy's caddy smacked straight into the ball hitch. Not a scratch on me. :lol

The 3rd time some guy was trying to cut a lane at a construction zone. Even though he hit me on my left rear corner with his right front corner, his puny mazda was no match for my truck. He ended up losing the entire headlight bucket and put a nice fold in the hood! :smash I eventually found a small scratch in the chrome.

I had the fortune of a fairly hefty piece of steel at my rear end to protect me though. I fear the day that somebody tries that while I'm in my SSR. In the first few days after getting it, I'm on my way home and the entire trip down the road, this ******** is tailgating me. I motioned for him to back off and he actually started waving both hands in the air and "dancing" around on his seat like "oh, oh, oh, I'm so worried that he's going to hit me". The sad part was that it's a multi-lane road and he had complete opportunity to pass. He was just being an a**hole the whole time. It's people like that I wish we could declare open season on!

I would do one of two things... TO get even with him just try this.... take your foot off the gas pedal and just SLOW RIGHT DOWN!!
:mad or just pull over to the right lane and let the IDIOT pass you.
:smash

Dunno...sounds to me like "Leaving the Scene of an Accident". May be from the Ozarks but I'm thinkin' thats a crime just about anywhere. Class A Misdemeanor here, and usually a good butt chewing from the Judge. Think I'd have freaked out too, while dialing 911 and sickin my Trooper buddies on her.

NY (Long island) is probably the worst place i have ever seen for bad driving and bad tempers and worst of all bad manners.

people cause accidents trying to get one car length ahead and forget tailgating. bumper cars is closer to it. yield the right of way is also non existent.

the worst part is that people actually get killed because of the road rage we have and I have learned to try and steer clear of it all by either trying to laugh it off while taking very deep breaths, let them pass or gun it and get far enough away, but i have to admit it sometimes gets so bad that i simply lean out of the car and tell them where to go while hoping i do not get shot.

Maybe she was on the cell phone. I have seen so many people make mistakes because they were driving and on the cell phone. Some people don't know how to drive and phone responsibly.

Typical So Cal

Today I took my 4 year old daughter for a 3 hour drive in SpongeBob (That’s what she named my Slingshot Yellow):lol Top down, cruising with my babe.....in a car seat of course.:angel This was her first real drive other than to school in the morning. Maybe it was just hot today or maybe seeing a Car Seat in an SSR is too much for people. Maybe I was just paranoid.:eek But, I missed 3 side swipes where I successfully changed lanes to miss, one rear end by a Honda locking them up. And, one car in front of me slamming on the brakes for no reason on the freeway! (I wasn’t tailgating or speeding:angel)....I ended up on the shoulder to avoid hitting him.:cuss The car behind me wasn’t so lucky.

When we got home my daughter was sleeping in her seat:sleep......I needed a drink.....Thank you Captain Morgan!:cheers

The trailer hitch and ball have saved me twice from rear ending at traffic lights. Each time I had to chuckle when the other driver saw damage on their vehicle and their paint on my hitch ball

P/P

Peace :flag
