Its time to retire my year old 03 and put it in shelter for long safe keeping.
I've enjoyed my 23,000 miles and now its time to put it away to be only driven on a fair day on special occasions.
What about the rest of you with 03? What are your plans with the original 1st year production SSRs?

If the price drops on the 05 may be I buy another one! In the mean time I think I'll look for a big truck to haul around my SSR.

I have only semi-retired mine...

Like sahara - I tend to pull the SSR out for special occasions and 'photo op' runs to the beach or mountains - or really nice weather...

I just went over 17k. I think I'll get a HHR for regular driving.

I'm building a new PAD for my SSR...

Park it??

Mine's a daily driver and it's just about at 17,000 miles. It wil continue to be my daily driver and I'll keep treating it to all the maintenance and Mobil 1 it can stand. But park it!! I'd go into withdrawal.

Mine's a daily driver too. I couldn't stand to park it and only take it out for special weekends. If I can't find a reason to drive it I make up an excuse. I really feel sorry for our friends in snow country. I don't know how they do it.

Ditto here....mines my daily driver. I too look for excuses to drive it. Never have I paid so much attention to the weather here in sunny San Diego as I do now....long to have that top down.....

Snow Country

We manage by praying :angel a lot for warm (28 degrees or so ) dry days (no moisture or salt on the roads).

If we can't drive it, at least some of us can go out and sit in it in a warm garage and pretend it's a warm day.

Park it?!?!? Living here in the lovely North East I have only had to leave it at home 4 days this winter. I have now put 26,000 miles on in 11 months and enjoyed every one of them. Was able to do some top down cruising both days this weekend. How many other people can say they get to put the top down when they drive out to the lake for some ice fishing. :cool

27000 miles on it and I will keep going until it doesn't go any more.

I plan to drive this until it doesn't go any more too, and if I don't find another vehicle as cool as this one with cargo space, retractable top and being fast with a 6 speed, we'll then with the money of buying a new vehicle I'll just rebuild this one, just like people do with muscle cars. If you park them and let them sit you loose all that time of enjoying them, and you still have maintenance issues when they don't get driven.

I wouldn't call it "at odds"...you asked for opinions, and you received them!

Here's another one (I'm very opinionated ;) )..if you already have 23,000 miles and mods, you may as well drive it and enjoy it. If you keep it in good condition, it will be worth in the same neighborhood as if you had twice the mileage if and when you sell it. Now, if you had 6 miles on it and had kept it in a bubble since the day you brought it home, then it would be worth more in 20 years from now, but where's the fun in that?? :lol

Life is short, enjoy it....

Me....2 more yrs n she goes 2 the Barrett-Jackson auction. Hopefully the gamble will pay off. :confused :thumbs If I'm lucky there, I may buy the 06/07 with the "Rat" motor, loaded. I do lov'r but I can't mod it the way I like cause of the collector rating. :nono If GM doesn't offer that pkge then I'll get another 03...n build my own monster. :yes

When n if I get what I want....It deff will b mod'd up. :yes

Unfortunately, GM missed the oppurtunity 2 capitalize on the "retro" craze with the HHR. :cry It's being built on a much smaller platform with a 4cyl engine!!! :confused What the heck r they thinkin???? :mad Thats what we need is another PT Cruiser. :nono

well it seems that not to many 03 members are agreeing with you but then there again is the reason we live in the USA, and please disregard the rest of the SSR owners for hijacking your thread. :yawn

My wife wants to know why we don't drive the SSR in the winter , it has traction control, posi traction , heated seats , ABS brakes , and rear window defogger, hmmmmmmm, maybe I should dig it out. Rear fenders have enough clearance for chains too !
