If anybody wants to join this run - or jump in along the way!

Departure: Leaving Kingsburg at 3pm on Friday Sept 14th....

Route: Generally: South on Hwy 43 from Fresno County to Kern County - divert west on Stockdale Hwy, then past I-5 - left on Morris Road for a stop at the Tule Elk Reserve then Hwy 119 SW into Taft.

Dinner: Appx 5:30 at Roots Eatery

Continue S S/W from taft on Hwy 33/116 - then W on Hwy 166 to Santa Maria - then onto Lompoc.

ROCKET LAUNCH info: Launch Window is on Saturday Sept 15th at 5:46-8:20 a.m. PDT... Yep - Up early to get to a viewing location.

Launch site: SLC-2W, Vandenberg Air Force Base, California

A United Launch Alliance Delta 2 rocket will launch NASA ICESat 2 satellite to continue the important observations of ice-sheet elevation change, sea-ice freeboard, and vegetation canopy height begun by ICESat in 2003. The rocket will fly in the 7420 configuration with four solid rocket boosters and no third stage. This will be the final launch of a Delta 2 rocket.

Then spend the morning and afternoon heading North on Hwy 1 to Morro Bay, Cayucos, Cambria - then head home....
