Gene aka Nosepicker, long, long time Florida Chapter Fanatic had his 05 SSR at Paint Shop, they took Roof Cover off to paint, reinstalled closed Roof and Roof Cover, couldn't open.

Gene called, I went over with Tech2 to see if we could get Roof operating. CID said "Open Tonneau Cover Manually". 05, usually means RDM doesn't know where Roof position is i.e. HES switches.

Tech2 proved motor ok but would not open, removed bolts to Roof Cover Latches to lift manually. Now Roof ran, latches not set correctly.

Flipper not closing right, hitting hinges when closing. Discovered brackets on Flipper cylinder mounted backward, allowing hydraulic cylinder to travel further than it should, thus hitting/dragging on hinge bracket.

Remounted correctly, ALL is good.

Dicktator

1. Mounted backward, "U" shaped bracket goes "Down".
2. Mounted correctly with "U" shaped bracket in down/back position.
3. Owner bought Dicktator and Gene lunch. Gene handsome one with beard.

Roof Brackets

This is another good reason to take photos of assemblies like the roof latches, hinges, and cylinders to note their correctly installed positions before disassembling them.

AND if you didn't know [you] would never know? Even with the pictures I'm lost. No reason for then to take pictures now as they will probably never paint another one. I only looked in my roof hole the one time I lubed anything that moved against another part. Probably time to do it again as there is now a rubbing/touching noise I'v never heard.I was so paranoid I dare not turn the motor off. Afraid that the computers would forget where the roof was. I had to find a flat spot on a parking lot so as not to stress the [roof]. All by myself & afraid I get stuck there. Turn on the A.C. & watch the gauge.

A shame that we can't clone you? NO HARM INTENDED::::::: Your step by step pictures are the next best thing but unless [one] fools with the part in question Only a hands on over your shoulder will help?

I know a few people in my circle of life who have lived to a 100 & past. Long my you live & be one of them. Not only for you but for all of us who depend on you & a few other specialist like MIKE & ED & OTHERS.

I am thinking [not seriously] of moving down near you just to have you close by. It would be like having a specialist hospital [at our age near us]? One other reason would be to not leave a forwarding address [if] that is possible in today's [click] & find anything on the internet.

So in this year with no spring & rain most every day since when do we get to drive our trucks? Not a real complant as so many have lost everything.

BIRDMANS...........Looking out at the rain.

Here is another, Dealer in Tampa installed Roof Cover Cylinders with one pushing UP and the other side pushing DOWN!!

Kinda tore Roof Cover Flipper in half.

Alex aka LargoSSR05 and Dicktator were called by Shaun at Dimmitt Chevy to solve/fix problem. Looked at Cylinders and knew what they had done.

I had Roof Cover and Flipper in stock, wrong color but Dimmitt painted to match.

Tampa Chevy Dealer had to pay Dimmitt to fix SSR.

Dicktator

1. Nice sag to Flipper
2. Fiberglass Flipper torn.
3. Alex checking Roof Cover
4. Shaun checking NEW cover open/close
5. Dicktator waiting to take a picture.
