I happened to find a way to get the top to go down the first time. I hold the botton and just before it times out I release it and push it again. This seems to allow the system to build up enough pressure to lower the top. in the past it was taking 8 - 9 attempts.

George, you should take it in to have checked. On mine I just hold the button and it goes up or down on the first try.

You shouldn't have to push the button more than once. You do have to hold the button down until the the bell chimes. Same thing for the return and if you hold the button after the bell chimes your windows will come up also.
