Shifting points with predator

What have all of you found out on the shifting points with the predator. I have set mine up to 10% and it has made a great differance. The mechanic told me the tranny would take 18%. He also told me alot of guys/gals have been setting to a straight 5500 rpm. Any ideas. I would like to hear from all of you shift changers so we can optimize. :seeya
