Stopped in at Castle Air Base today while out enjoying a day made for top down driving...

Like the SSR, the SR71 is another excellent example of a two seat wonder!!!

Is Castle AFB still an active duty base? I was in the A.F. and thought it was closed. I should take a trip up there sometime and get pictures of my black SSR in front of the blackbird.

The base is gone - but the museum is still there.

After stopping in there - Hwy 59 up into the Gold Country is a great drive. We connected to Hwy 49 at Bear Valley and headed south to Bass lake, Excellent mountain roads thru Mariposa County - the only county in California with NO traffic signals...
