Got a crazy idea the other day after seeing pics of the blue patina R that showed up at Branson a couple weeks ago. Use skinny steel wheels, like Trailblazer size, with tall skinny tires. A two inch lift kit. Dog dish hubcaps. Redline red but in patina. Then make it look like the 40’s era truck with the aluminum camper. So combine all the photos with that in mind and you come up with a rolling baked potato! Could be a fun traveling ride though, couple of bunks for naps and a porta potty, a seniors dream!

@Stepchild I think you have beat me for having too much time on your hands. I do like the look and idea. Just not sure how much room it would have inside.

Nope.(n)
I wouldn't do anything that blocks the top from working.
There is also this one other little problem in the glove compartment.

Yea I forgot about that sticker, it’s covered with various stuff. So there’s about a thousand pounds payload capacity after the 2 people to play with, the factory anchor points for the bed cover and tailgate anchor points might be able to be used to help bolt the thing in. Not putting the top down is one of the biggest negatives but I‘m not getting rid of the woody anyway. Taller center of gravity is a big concern too, probably not so skinny of tires would be better.
I remember seeing that sticker years ago and thinking “what kind of idiot would put a camper on an SSR”!!

Getting rid of the woody? So you're a love 'em and leave 'em kind of guy. That's great for the next owner.

Never getting rid of the woody, fact is I’m finally to the point of finishing it off. A new set of Budnik wheels should be finished by the end of June. Katzkin interior is next then engine dress up stuff.
