Perfect timing

I was thinking of getting a navigation unit for my 05 silver SSR ( sound familiar ), and I saw your photos and they look great. I was wondering how it would look without the factory set up, now I know.
I do have a question though. I noticed your head unit installed towards the upper half of the double din. Was this just your preference or did the unit you used require that location? If you installed the unit towards the bottom of the double din, would the screen clear the slight bump out in the dash? I ask because if I get the pioneer AVIC-N2 unit I would like to have it put towards the lower half so when the screen is up it obscures the double din space. Any info would be greatly appreaciated. :thumbs

The unit is mounted high because thats where the din adaptor mounting bolt holes & locator pin line up. It also puts the screen more in-line with the drivers line of vision, as opposed to looking down and taking your eyes off the road.

In the space underneath the head unit I was able to stow the Sirius box and some foam rubber for cushioning of the components.

Sorry about the bad link for the Nav pic. I need to upload there pic there.

when you installed that sub behind the seat how much space did you loose? I'm 6-2 roughly and it's already tight getting in and out of my truck with the seat almost all the way back. :black:
Tony hasn't been on since Nov....might not answer your question right away. In fact I'd PM him, because he might not see this thread when he does come back.

My guess is that since the top of my seat hits the back a couple of inches before the bottom, there isn't that much space lost, but he did take out the flat tire kit, which has to be placed somewhere else.

I had my subs installed in the roof storage compartment...
