I decided to put the sound clip on a different thread so it won't get lost in the other tread. I could not load it to this site so try it on this link. If it doesn't play shoot me an email and I can email it too you. http://www.putfile.com/gallery/SSR-Headers/MVI_0421

They are suppose to be ready by Mid January. They were hoping to get them done before the end of the year but other committments kept them from finishing up the project. They have a website you can check out.

Sound is great... how do they fit and look under the hood?

Bill,
See the pictures on the other thread about the Headers at SEMA. The fit is very good, a little tight on the passenger side but manageable. As far as the looks, one word, awesome. We have over 1200 miles on them and they are just starting to turn the rainbow color like stainless does when it heat cycles. I can't say enough good things about the craftsmanship of the headers and installation.

Dynatech Headers

04Z16,

A couple questions come to mind. Do you notice a lot of additional heat under the hood like happens with so many header installations? Do you know how the final offering will be configured, that is, will there be a chrome option or ceramic coated, or anything else?

I (as well as many others, I'm sure) am very interested in this installation. I already have the Magnaflow cat-back exhaust installed. I can only imagine how good it would sound with these headers, too! :thumbs

Peaches,
I talked to the shop just before our snow hit on Wednesday. They are in the process of getting the headers out the door by Mid January. I believe the headers will only some in Stainless Steel, this is what I've seen from all the other installations they do. They offer the headers with the Hi-Flow cats, which we have. There have been no other problems under the hood as far as heat or other typical problems you encounter with headers. We have driven the truck for a four hour road trip one way and another four on the return with no problems. The temp outside was 75 degrees and the first thing I checked when we got there and home was how things looked under the hood, no problems.
If you check out their web page they show different systems on other applications, I believe ours is called the SuperMaxx system because it comes with the hi flow cats.

Fred,
We got what we wanted with the headers. The SSR picked up about 17 HP at the Rear and about 28 FTLB torque. The torque curve is a whole heck of a lot smoother. You can feel the difference in how the SSR performs. The numbers really don't do it justice. Remember also these are with the stock mufflers.
The headers do make the exhaust louder than stock but not overbearing. My wife actually likes the sound of the truck better now. :thumbs

Hope everyone has a great Holiday Season!

Leo,

Can you find out if they can be ceramic coated - that would keep them from discoloring, and would bring down the heat level under the engine compartment.

If Dynatech can't do it, there would be aftermarket companies able to do it, but I don't know if stainless can be coated - the chrome shops can't chrome plate stainless, and I'm not sure how the ceramic process works.

Ray,
I'll give the shop a call in the AM and post back up tomorrow afternoon.
