I have been researching parts to put on my '05 and taking advice from fellow forum members took a look at gmpartsdirect.com

I noticed that they sell the Satin Chrome running boards that I am after (Part # 12499191) and they sell another set of running boards specifically for the various colors of the cars, like for my Ricochet Silver (part # 12499196) .

No pictures on the site though so I do not know which to get. Are the running boards that go with the specific car colors different from the Satin Chrome that I had on my '04 SSR? Are the color specific ones painted to the cars color?

One dissapointing feature is the lack of pictures! Does anyone have pics of the color specific running boards! I would like to see them before I make a decision!

THANKS!!! :cool :flag

There just like the one that come on the ssr from the factory. The colors are a factory match. But I don't know if the satin and the ric. silver are the same color. The price is about the same so I would get the ric. silver if thats the color of your SSR. I know this cause I have a brand new set of Redline Red. I got from them on a shelf in the garage. They come with all the hardware. Took bout 2 months to get them. Traded my 03 for a 05 that had the red boards on it. NO REFUNDS on special order parts. That why I have a set. Will sell them later. But if you want runnig boards thats were to get them.

I really want to see pics of the boards before I buy anything. I can't believe that the chevy site nor the dealer have any information on them!?! My dealer tried to sell me them for $899!!!

If anyone has pics or knows of a link to see these new boards please post, I will be your best friend! :thumbs

Go to the Accessories Zone on www.gmgoodwrench.com and you can see pictures of items and it will give you the regular GM price that you can compare to gmpartsdirect. :)

Very helpful -- not so much...

E-mail them they are very helpful :)
I e-mailed GMPartsDirect last week with a couple of questions about SSR parts they sell.

One week later, still no response at all.

Very helpful? Not so much. *Almost* makes me want to go to the local dealer and pay full retail.

Doubt the local dealer is going to give any better info...gmpartsdirect IS a dealer as well that just sells the accessories at a discounted price...they get the stuff from the same place your dealer will and it will take about the same amount of time.

Ask your parts guy to match the gmpartsdirect price...can't hurt!

Oh, I agree. But I have a hard time opening my wallet for any vendor who offers an e-mail address to which to address questions, and then doesn't reply!

I'm only mentioning it here, since someone else's experience was so different (and so much better!) than mine.

If anyone from GMPartsDirect is listening: check your e-mail in-box! (And if you don't, you just lost a sale!)

I would definitely think the same as you but I also have a very difficult time paying retail for anything much less accessories for my truck, especially since there are so many that I want. I have had good experiences with gmpartsdirect but there is another accessories site that was mentioned a short while back, I think it was www.factorycustoms.com

Have not used this company but have compared prices between them, gmpartsdirect and the goodwrench site. Between the three I have been able to see pictures of everything I have been interested in but color-matched running boards have not been one as no one has the Ultra Violet boards or engine cover (which I would like to have).

Good luck!

I bought my running boards, the factory paint '05 variety from factorycustoms.com

Great service and better priced than the dealers I went to and gmpartsdirect!

Only $20 to ship the running boards from WA to CA! Not too bad!

If you puchase from factory customs, try to do it directly with them, whether by email or phone. My experience with them on EBay wasn't great - poor communications, not returning phone calls, and their payment system refusing my Paypal payment because my VISA address did not match the ship address, resulting in the only negative feedback I've ever received on EBay.

I suspect it was because I had the only bid, and was purchasing the item for significantly less than its market value, and he really wasn't interested in selling it.

Giving GMPartsDirect.com their due

After reading in this thread that e-mailing GMPartsDirect.com was a good way to get parts/accessories information, because they are so helpful. I did just that a couple of weeks ago.

When I didn't hear from them by the end of last week, I got on this thread and bitched about their non-responsiveness.

I am now obligated to come back again, to report that they did answer both of my e-mail messages: the first one with my inquiry, and my second one in which I complained that they didn't respond.

They very politely asked that I give them at least 5 business days to respond to each inquiry, as they have a single tech who does this, and he's very busy.

They also requested that I provide the VIN of the vehicle in question with each inquiry (which I had failed to do).

Just wanted to close this loop...

hmmm...

Please allow me to reply. As most of you know, paypal requires a confirmed address for fraud protection. The person here bashing my business did not and for some reason, couldn't understand the reasoning. He also just sent me this email that I feel was completely un-called for.

"I see you're stil not very good at returning calls or emails, plus you still call people names. Just so you know, I have since purchased a second SSR, and have to date ordered 3 set floormats, 2 sets aluminum sill plates, one aux gauge set, one storage cover, one set of saddlebags and one set of running boards. Some on EBay, others from GMpartsdirect. Too bad, you would have been closest source, but that's what an undeserved negative feedback gets you. I've also made sure others knew of your tactics whenever your site is mentioned on SSRFanatic. Hope I'm bad for business.

Ray Lamothe"

Everything that I sell is factory original and is sent within 10 business days. If there is a backorder situation, my customers are informed and given a choice of a refund or to keep their order.

Just thought I would set the record straight.

Let me know if I can be of service.

Don't feel bad Flassh, I'm on your side. Last July I hit a brickwall with Paypal - it couldn't wrap it's little computer brain around the fact that my shipping address was the USA and my billing address was in Canada. I lost out on the purchase (the seller would only mail to the USA) but we both agreed to let it go with no bad remarks by either of us about the other as far as ebay goes. My $.02

Hi, Sandy

This was the only EBay transaction that ever went sour for me, and I'd tried pretty much everything to make it work. He's not the first shipper who wouldn't ship to Canada, but the only one I couldn't resolve the issue with.

Just happened upon one of his items on EBay last night, so checked, and noticed ongoing negatives , so..... just thought I'd let him know I hadn't bought anything else from him. Didn't expect him to take it public.

All I can suggest is before anyone deals with Factory Customs they first go to the trouble of checking through his negative and neutral feedback for the last year to see just how many people had a bad experience due to unanswered calls and emails, and/or very slow shipping.

I don't want to turn a private matter into a public debate, but if the discussion continues, I don't have a problem attaching all the emails he didn't reply to, then attach the part on the negative feedback where he says he never received emails or phone calls, and that I refused to pay.:eek
