Mod's please take a lession and read NEED LEGAL HELP- 3 PAGES SO FAR- PACIFIC FORUM before you lock down threads :nono It started out with a statement and question and yes a few of us got upset but its run its course and things have been learned about the auto bis and now we are waiting to see its outcome. I was in Sam's last thread and if you really had read it he made a statement but people kept stirring the pot and it almost ran its course too until it was locked down :nono Then someone starts a new post (same thing) makes their statement and has a few comments and requests it to be locked, is this the future of this forum make a statment and then dash :confused Yes people make statements and yes other people have different views but locking down threads (instead of letting them run there course) only starts another one with the same outcome. Last I checked this still is the U.S.A. maybe we need a place to move these kind of threads, call it the GET IT OFF YOUR CHEST FORUM :thumbs I'am sure there are some that will get upset with my statements but let me be the first to say move this thread to a place were it can run its course :thumbs

It could be 'Get it off your chest', 'Whine and neurosis', or whatever. We wouldn't lose anything valuable, and it would just give us the choice to only get into The Dark Side when we wanted to.

VERY WELL SAID crazyrtr53!!! As far as I know we still have our first amendment rights to freedom of speech. Having said that, I too thought Sam went overboard with is rantings. If he would have stayed on point he would have been ok. This was too much even for me and as you know I still have issues with the vendor.

Thought all was ok till this past weekend when they found the chin spoiler DOES NOT FIT THE O5. Seems the fenders are a different size. Had to feel sorry for them. Guess those have the 03 - 04 will be getting theirs alot sooner. Those who have the 05 model will have to wait another 10 days or so. This time I'm not sorry. After seing the pics of the spoiler in grey prime on a yellow truch, I deceided to take the advise of others and wait for a yellow one.

Stay to The Issue / Keep all Facts In Sight

Seems these topics sometimes loose sight of the intent of the original question
or request for help in favor of giving opinion and conjecture. If all agree to abide by the facts in these cases, there ought to be less room for personal conflict.

I understand what you folks are saying, HOWEVER, as with most internet forums, this is a privately owned site and any "freedom of speech" allowed is purely at the discretion of the site owner. It is in the owner's / moderator's best interest to allow a certain amount of "provocative" discussion to keep the site alive and interesting, but it is also their responsibility, indeed their DUTY to the members of the site to maintain a level of civility that the majority of the membership is comfortable with. This is not an easy task, and as with virtually everything, "you can't keep ALL the people happy ALL of the time! I personally believe (just my opinion here), that the number one asset to me of this site is the volume of information on my "hot rod" available to me just by clicking my mouse! What an awesome set-up! Consequently, I would not be in favor of a format change that would allow this site to become a "bashing" free-for-all like so many other forum sites. But hey!, maybe a "Vent in here" catagory might be the answer. I'm just glad I don't have to do Troy's, Marc's, or Buffy's job!

Blast.

There will always be personal conflict when someone is stating his or her opinion on a product or vender!! :cuss Other people might see it a different way, thus leading to conflict. :( My point is move the conflict everyones an adult and can choose to either stay in the thread or leave and go on to other forums :thumbs Closing a thread does'nt help, it cause's people to take sides for or against and then someone will start that thread again :mad The thread I spoke about above is 3 pages long and not finished. Some of us got a little heated including yours truly but the outcome has been alot of information on the auto biz and that we have some great members in the auto industry that can get us insider info if anyone should need it in the future :thumbs It also ran its course on us being upset at each other and we as adults got threw it, myself having great respect for three gentlemen in the auto biz, always wanted to know where that 1/10 of a percent was oh s**t probably started something now :glol :glol :glol

Do not confuse Rights endowed by the Constitution with the rights of this forum. You cannot universally apply the constitution which defines the rights of an individual against an oppressive government to the laws of, say, personal discourse. Being :boxing boorish and mean :reddevil in a public forum (even if one is right--the nature of that I cannot say, it was before my time) is not a right. You cannot say FIRE in a crowded theater (unless there is a fire). You cannot say four-letter words...the list goes on.

Reread the constitution. :leaving It only says :sleep CONGRESS :cuss shall make no laws abridging the freedom of speech. The moderators :jester can do what they want, when they want, until you can get your legislature to tell him different.

Legal precedent has established in too many cases to mention that an individual has the right to say what he wants, as protected by the constitution, but does not have the right to incite riots, be part of a football team, a coach of a basketball team, a news anchor, a company executive, among others.

We can have disagreements here without forgetting why we're members. :grouphug

One more thing...

...if we had a thread named

Bitch, Bitch, Bitch (10 words or less, spoken like a true Texan Ampmop ! ! ! )

won't we get a lot of porn and AKC hits?

Would I have to limit it to SSR complaints?

Could I throw in NFL rants, Aggie jokes, subversive thoughts?

Just wondering.

Blast, thank you for the words that I have been struggling with to come up with.

The key words in Blasts' statement was "maintain a level of civility that the majority of the membership is comfortable with." Once a thread starts becoming heated, you can't believe how many PM's Marc NY and I receive asking us to stop the nonsense. Now, throw in some personal attacks and our PM folder gets FULL!

(Crazyrtr53, bcbear10 or anyone else who cares) In most, if not all cases, I believe that Marc & I have left a thread stay open enough to allow everyone to air their views, but once the posts turn "ugly", we HAVE to shut it down for the "majority of the membership." And if a member who starts a thread and then thinks better of it later and asks me to close it to prevent more bickering, I will close it.

"Freedom of speech" allows you the freedom to express you views, but I don't believe it gives you the right to belittle, disparage or personally attack another human being without the chance of repercussions.

Freedom of Speech, or Fighting Words? - A very fine line!
