There were 69 WD1 Pilots built in MY2003, commencing 6.12.2003.
These were the first recognized Regular Production SSR's.
They ran sequential VIN's #300 - #368
GM began producing @ VIN 300 so as not to destroy the early VIN's as test units.
Some of these WD1 Pilots became SEMA Display vehicles - some others were mules for GM testing
GM had involvement in some as they wanted the SSR to be promoted at SEMA. Several automotive product manufacturers were approached to do custom builds in order to promote their products as well as the SSR.
Not clear if these were a form of joint venture or selling price incentives to the product vendors that agreed to build custom trucks for the SEMA show.
**A note on PickupTruck.com regarding #338 Victory Lane - "One of two SSR's released by GM to Custom Builders for the 2003 SEMA show - one to SoCal (#301 Push Truck) & #338 to California Custom Sport Trucks."

The earliest SSR's were the Signature Series and 32 EX VIN's, but some of these WD1's were built at about the same time.
To give you a better idea, #32EX was built 5.28.2003 and Signature 23 was built 5.12.2003, so these WD1 Pilots were just 2-4 weeks later.
1GCES14P93B100300 Redline Red was the first Regular Production SSR to leave the Lansing Craft Centre on 6.12.2003.
It had 73P sterling wheels, no boards, but did have console gauges and carpeted cargo.
20 of the 69 had the console gauges but after these and a few Early MY2005's the console gauges were not available as an RPO until May 2004.

A picture with Lansing Craft Center/GM staff surrounding a Smokin Asphalt SSR coming off the assembly line. The placard states it was the first SSR available to the public - 7.29.2003. I believe this SSR was #333 - (3B100333)

#301 - The SoCal Push Truck - BOD 6.12.2003
This incredible SSR left the LCC as a stock :black:
She became anything but!
One of the more fabulous SSR's in our SSR history.
Immediately on build she was sent to the ASC fascility where she had a complete transformation - I mean complete!
- 6.0L LS2 was installed
- 6sp manual transmission
These options did not become available until MY2005, yet here they were in the #2 SSR built!
There were so many more transformations made to this SSR, most at ASC - later she was sent to SoCal Customs for the final overlay.
She became known as the "2004" SoCal Bonneville Salt Flats Push Truck which made it very difficult to research, for she was a "very" early 2003 build.

There are several threads about this amazing truck - please search for them! :)

Hi Pete - I remember speaking to you about #329 three or four years ago - (maybe 5 or 6! Time flies - HaHa!)

After losing it in my photo filing system about 12 years ago, the SSRs at SEMA photos finally showed up - as a subfolder in a totally different part of my files.

So - here are some photos of SSRs at SEMA 2004. Americano was the first SSR I saw once I got indoors.

**I'll add VIN's for you - "Cash"

#306 - The Americano - I believe is in a Collection in CA
