Today there is a Black SSR ending on ebay that the seller states is a low mileage "buy back" from a customer then auctioned by gm. What the heck is that? Then he says everything works perfect. Why would they buy back a perfect truck? I think there is something wrong in Denmark AND Buffalo, MN today.

What do you think?

I just e-mailed the seller. Let's see if he/she responds before the end of the auction.

The reason it was a buy back due to the power top being out of alignment. They had problems with some of the ssr's having top troubles. General Motors corrects the problem and then sells the vehicle at a Gm auto auction. The car has warranty till november of 2007 or 36,000 miles.
Hope this helps
Thanks for the emai,

Find it interesting that GM would buy this back because of a top alignment problem. Dealer would have to make more than several failed attempts to fix before this buy back would even be considered by GM. You would think GM would send someone to the dealership to fix the problem before buying it back. Seems strange.

I also noticed when scanning the body panels condition, they're all rated "good", not "excellent".

this is what my baby was supposed to be, a "lemon law buy back". also for the roof. now when my service guy looks up the history of the truck nothing shows- no warranty work at all. the wires for the flipper have been spliced and I think the tonnau has been painted. it's going in monday for a proper repair of the wires and hydraulic lines.
look at my post "roof scuff" and see if you can spot similar scratches on the photos of the truck on ebay.
I dont know what the heck the prob was that "lemoned" black beauty, I'm just glad to have my ssR :flag

Yeah, I watched that one. He wants way too much for it; especially with it being branded. I wouldn't touch it with a 10 foot pole!

I had the same problem witht he roof scratches. The problem is the wire loom cover the covers the lines for the tonnou cover. When the top is retracted the loom bends and breacks at the sleave point, then rubs the top in the down position. A zip tie to the bracing will correct this problem. I notitfed the deallership here in Wichita Falls Texas, they have 4 others all with the same problem. They have all been fixed the same way now. GM should put out a fix bulitin on this. Once ties up go to get some scratch remover, clear coat safe, and you will never know it happened.

here's the twisted wires

I guess this is an 03 problem.this is getting replaced tomorrow the wires have been pinched and spliced so it can't just be re routed properly. the driver side doesn't have the twist it just goes in a neat straight 'loop'. :confused
I'd be happy if y'all checked :flag
p.s. Stanman I pm'd you about this, THANKS!

Why?

Why would Ryan Cheverolet be selling a buy back. When I spoke to them they said that SSR's didn't really sell in their neck of the woods. Why would they get one (especially a buy back) and try to sell it? Did they have to bid on it at auction? Are these vehicles so discounted that the dealers make a lot of money when they sell these (example: buy it for $15K and sell it at $30K)?
