Took delivery of my new redline red 2005 SSR yesterday and as soon as I drove off the lot noticed one broken air vent and another loud rattling one.

The optional floor guages came loose (I fixed), but the most disturbing thing is that when the top is up, I get a "Roof Ajar" warning that will not clear but for a few seconds.

It goes in for service tomorrow...Oh well, at least I was able to drive it for a day and a half.

And American car companies wonder why they loose market share to foreign ones and the American Auto workers wonder why they loose their jobs.

My 2004 Volvo XC90 was delivered in pristine condition.

Sorry, just venting and frustrated.
Any ideas on the roof situation???

How do I attach pictures?

Sorry about your problems

Welcome ampmop, sorry about your problems, but don't blame the truck. Those faults should have been fixed by the dealer. I bought an '05 with no troubles except the dealer tried to renege on the running boards. It seems to be a rare moment when you can buy a car with no hassles. ENJOY THE RIDE!!

Thanks, not blaming the truck, blaming the manufacturer and the dealer. Not many take pride in their work today.

You would think that major purchases would warrant a little extra from those that are selling them.

I did get my SSR up to 110 mph yesterday albeit for a brief moment. My wife had her arms up screaming/laughing like she was on a roller coaster...I do love this truck...car...roadster...truck...

Made In America

The more gadgets the more problems. Don't panic yet, let's see how the dealer handles the problems? I've been around a lot of SSR owners and none were sorry they bought this truck. I'm sure your SSR will be fixed properly and you'll be happy with American workmanship. This truck doesn't get built on an assembly line and the quality is there, thus the high cost of the SSR. No one wants problems with a major purchase like this, but there will be problems. My first new car was the 1962 Corvair Monza, loved the car, hated General Motors and the dealership. How a dealer handles car problems is the big test. Have to say Toyota really cares about customer satisfaction and I don't see it with GM. Every time we had our Camry serviced, Toyota would call us to see we were totally satisfied? Of course my wife never did like the comfort of the Camry and traded it a year later for the Buick Regal, which she loves.. So much for customer loyalty. Enjoy the SSR :flag :flag

There are many choices because people have different preferences. My own Toyota experience was horrible, I'll never buy another. This shows you that there are no perfect cars and fewer pefect dealers. If the dealer you bought from can't cut the mustard, find a good one and hang onto them, but let GM know; they are really working hard to remake their customer satisfaction ratings.

If you have passion for the SSR, read "SSR, An Amercian Orignal" the book about how this ride came to be, its on Amazon for $34 and is a great coffee table book.

I got behind a brand new Mustang tonight (still had the paper plates on it) guy had the flashers going and a friend was following him - both at about 10 mph. So it's gonna happen to somebody with any vehicle. Too many things to go wrong in assembly for there not to be some clunkers.

That sucks :bs . Back when I bought mine, the chevy rep and her assistant looked mine over inside and out to make sure their were no defects or visible damage before I drove it off the lot.

What is sad here is that people are ignoring the fact that GM'S quality control sucks. They should not release the vehicle for sale if it doesn't pass. Evidently it is build it, ship it and we will worry about fixing it later.

GM do you see where you are messing up?

Good luck with your new SSR, go ahead and establish a good relationship with the service advisor because you will be visiting them more than you would want to.

....and GM executives whine publicly that their problems are due to the automotive press, that their vehicles are as good as imports, blah, blah. If I was on that board I would be replacing executives that make excuses, and FAST.

America is Great!

Ampmop, Sorry about the quality issues and I see a lot of American vehicle bashing here and I will suggest ya'll take a look at J.D. Powers and what they will tell ya'll about current American quality. You will NOT see Volvo at the top of the list. GM and Ford have made major strides and improved quality to where they are better actually than many of the Japanese companies and ALL of the European companies. I believe Buick was 2nd to Lexus and AHEAD of Toyota, Honda and Nissan. Cadillac and Lincoln are right up there, too. Chev and Ford are not far down the list. Considering the fact that the two American companies are saddled with paying for health care and having to add that cost to the price of their vehicles while our country defends Japan, Korea and Germany for free so they can pay for healthcare and not their auto companies, we are doing pretty well. There are simply no better vehicles on the road for the price than the new Vette, Mustang and SuperDuties. Hopefully the healthcare issue can get worked out so GM and Ford can truly compete. The "dumping" issue has been improved. Japanese vehicles were selling here cheaper than in Japan and that is actually illegal. Now the Chinese will try doing the same. I hope our kids will have some kind of economic opportunities. It is getting scary when I hear about our imbalance of trade and how it causes the dollar to plummet which makes people think the price of gas/oil is rising even though it really is not much. Not long ago, a euro cost $.88 U.S., gold was $262/ounce and oil was $38/barrel. All of those have gone up over 50% which really means the dollar has dropped over 35%. For those buying oil with euros or gold, the price has not really gone up. Our insatiable appetite for goods that are unAmerican has caused the dollar's drop and what looks like an oil price increase........... I will shut up and go take my meds now........

America is Great

AMEN to that!! Having lived overseas while hubby was in the Navy, I can tell you all that if you don't start buying American made goods we're all going down the toliet :leaving Check your stats as he suggested and you will find you get what you pay for. Imports= cheap junk 99% of the time. We all have had some problems with our ssrs, but I'd much rather drive a GM product than some of the tin can imports that are now available. By the way, have you tried to buy a pair of American made sneakers lately? GOOD LUCK with that :cuss Well, guess It's time for my meds also. At least they're made in America (I Think)?? :flag
