I have an '04 Redline Red. I went to the local Chevy dealer's part department to get some touch up paint and he didn't show a Redline Red in his computer, only Torch Red. Question of the day-"Are Redline Red and Torch Red one in the same?" I assume that could be the case but needed some first hand experiences if anyone has run into the same situation.

Torch red

That is why the torch red leather used in c5 vettes was used in my ssr interior. ask someone on here what their bottle stated for their slingshot yellow, Makes me wonder if Marks SSR touch up bottle said Machine Silver or not. :thumbs

sorry about not getting right to you. I had to make sure myself where it is. back in 88 and 89 some of the Buick Reatas that were uilt at Craft centre did not have option labels where they were supposed to be :smash :party

That's what is nice about this site...whomever has an answer chimes in...and we move on. I'm glad when I can learn something from one of these very knowledgeable folks. No pressure, no stress...also no sun today...which means Penny stayed in the barn. :banghead

Wrong Color

Hey guys funny you should put this thread up. I just bought some touch up paint from the local chevy dealer with the VIN as the ID. Went thru the same thing, when it came in they said it wasn't redline red but Torch Red...

Tried it yesterday......NOT EVEN FRIGGIN CLOSE:mad2::banghead:ssr. Now I gotta fix the dark red spot I have on the hood after it dried!!!!!!!!!!!

Be careful about the color. It looks kinda close when it's wet, but the lacquer dries its many shades darker. Now it looks like a stain instead of a fix.

If you go thru with the Torch Red make sure you do a test patch "Not On The Car" before you start painting........

From PaintScratch.com for a 2003 SSR:

Chevrolet codes can be confusing! For example, the color code 96/WA8867 listed on our site can be shown on your vehicle as 96U or 96L or 8867 or WA8867. Often there will be a BC CC before the color code. This stands for Basecoat/Clearcoat. The U in the paint code means the Upper Color and the L means the Lower Color. Two tone vehicles will have each color coded, i.e. 96U and say 36L. Also, it could be 8867L or 8867U.
2003 Chevrolet SSR Locate Color Identification Plate
Color Description Color Code
Radar Blue Metallic 21/WA245E
Black 41/WA8555
Torch Red 70/WA9075
Yellow 79/WA423G
Sparkle Silver Metallic (Wheel Color) WA9967
