No, they are there. Often they are on top of the frame or on the inside and very well taped up. Ususally a very flat bundle so you reallly have to work to find them. Sometimes they are nearly above the axle. Try running your hand alont the top of the frame and when you find some tape see if it seems to build in thickness. That is likely to be the wires. When you find them cut carefully so you do not cut the wires. Good luck.
