2. Is there switch for the light in the cargo area ?

1.Read this thread http://www.ssrfanatic.com/forum/showthread.php?t=476&highlight=rear+license+plate

2. Do you have a light? Or the carpet package on the cover? if not read this thread it will help. If you do have the carpet then the light should come on when the top is open! Frisco-Tx just put carpet in his and hooked up the light.http://www.ssrfanatic.com/forum/showthread.php?t=8153&highlight=bed+light

or this one http://www.ssrfanatic.com/forum/showthread.php?t=3022&highlight=bed+light

That thread on removing the plate made life easy. I just tried it and no problems. The light does come on when you lift the cargo cover. I was just thinking if you go to a show and want to display the cargo area I would like to turn the light off.

Of course I had to have a yellow SSR, it matches my 75 Vette :cool

1. Look at the sides of the frame. On the inside edge you will see two openings. Take a wide blade screwdriver insert it into the opening, keep it against the licence plate, press outward while lifting the frame. NOTE: pressing too hard can lead to breaking the tab that you are trying to disengage.

2. yes, but it is not the traditional plunger style. AFAIK all the door and cover switches are magnetic. (hall effect) I haven't bothered to look for that particular one yet. I would expect the same switch that prevents the top retraction when the cargo cover is up, is the one used to trigger on the lamp on and off.

PS. I've broken the tabs on my frame trying to get it off. This part is not runiously expensive to replace. Just way over priced.
