GM needs to get real

Man GM has a problem and it is no wonder. The Chevy dealer has nothing interesting that does not cost $50,000.

They killed the Camaro/Firebird.

The dealers are trying to kill the SSR.

What marketing school did these geni-uslesses go to? Design a cool truck to sell for high 30's. Yeah there is a ton of guys who'd go for that.

Then they get greedy. Offer some essentials as "options" to raise the margins.

Naturally all dealers max out on options for maxing profits. Now high 30's is mid 40's.

Next dealers get greedier and add "market adjustment $10,000" so that the high thirty truck I would strech my budget to get becomes the low 50k's truck that the guys who can afford it don't buy because there is no more room in the garage next to their Lexus and 05 Vette.

Hum, my grade schooler could figure that one out.

Monte Carlo? Maybe in the 80's. Tahoe? A new car that looks 10 years old the next morning. Seems to me that when Chrysler rolled out the 300 all existing tools and designs at GM should have been melted down for beer cans.

I have to disagee with that article. Good product is just a minimum requirment for saving a company. In a competetive market providing good product isnt' going to differentiate you from the other companies also providing good product.

bed cover

On the front page of the USA Today, they pictured a red SSR with a different bed cover than my 2003. It appears the cover sweeps over the edge to the styling line at the bottom tangent. Have I missed this body change? Looks like it might save water leak problems, but it would be heavier and so harder to lift.

Does anyone have this? When did (or will) it start? Am I just seeing things?

The picture is a 2004 model and I think from looking at it that it might just be a play on shadows. It does look curved but I think it is just an illusion. This picture has been used everywher.

Perhaps GM desire to move the SSR's off the lot is starting to work. Watched a few dealerships around here have "5 to choose from" - drop to none. Now no SSR's in their ads...

Well, the April sales figure (811) is much lower than March (1,125.)
