Greetings, all. Just picked up my '04 today. I had planned to use this as a pickup truck, and read at the Chevy website that the tonneau cover was removable. Bought it used, no owner's manual (5200 miles) and salesman does not know how to remove cover.

Any reason I would not want to remove cover and store permanently? How is cover removed?

The owners manual does give instructions on the top removal. Someone has converted the owners manual onto pdf files onto a cd and this can be purchased on ebay item number 7952737754.

If you remove the cover there are some neat corner moldings that cover the moldings. You don't mention if you have the carpet in the bed but I think it might be ok to get wet.

I personally don't see any reason you couldn't take it off, you will need two people to take it off. I don't know how to take it off, though.

Look at the hinge brackets at the front sides of the bed. There is one silver colored bolt in the center of each bracket. remove the silver colored bolt, slide the cover toward the rear and lift off. If you have a light under the cover you have to unhook the wiring for the light.

There is an accessory kit you can order which includes a large cover you can put the bed cover in and hang on your garage wall and some bed rails that finish off the bed.
