I have got to say that it is the biggest cruise show imaginable. If you can visualize a divided boulevard highway with a minimum of three north bound lanes and three south bound lanes with a wide belt dividing it, approximately 16 miles round trip of some of the most beautiful communities, and tons of fans that turn back their age to the fifties.

I am not sure if there is a spot for the ssr's, but ASC is headquartered in Southgate michigan, and they were responsible for much of the initial production of the SSR. They are only 20 miles or so south of the Dream cruise.
I think they might know of any ssr gatherings. If not I am sure that someone on the board knows of a group gathering along the way. Right now it is near impossible to negotiate a spot on woodward since so many deals have been struck to buy time on woodward. Mom and pop shops are making a fortune during that week.
it is truly a week long event before the show. there is set up time and naturally the unofficial practice runs as everyone jockeys for unreserved public spots al;ong the roadway.
People come from out of town and book hotels close by a year in advance.

It is a blast.

Being one of the lucky 6 or 7 Fanatics that got invited out to Woodward last year I got to say I was impressed. Fri nite was an invitation by Chevy to a SSR only event. Must of been over 70 SSR's there (mostly Chevy owned cars). Though it rain it was a fun time.
Then Sat was the cruise. I for one didn't believe that 30,000 car could cruise all at once. Believe me they do. World's biggest traffic jam of hot rods and anything else on wheels.
I went out with the impression this would be a once an done type of trip. But I believe we are going to go again this year. We must set something up. Possibly we could to the same hotel we had last year.
This will probably be the first of many treads leading up to this event.
Let the good times roll :party :party :party

Some time back I read a post about an SSR meating at Woodward and maybe we could get a tour of the SSR plant and the GM Heritage Center. Myself and 3 friends of mine have been doing Woodward for the past 4 years and plan our whole years vacation around it. My Silver SSR came in in mid-july last summer so Woodward got to be the 1st big trip, I wish I had known about this form before then to get the chance to meet some other owners then. I would really like to try to meet with who ever is planning to go this year. It is truly worth the trip no matter how far you have to travel. It is a 450 mile trip for us.

One of my favorite parts last year was my buddy drove his '69 Chevelle SS 396 up with me and I only had to buy gas every 3rd time he stopped, and my A/C worked :thumbs

HI wvssr,

Keep a watchful eye out on here... there should be some interesting news in the near future. I am hoping that there will be a couple of great awesome tours materializing by the latter part of the week of the Woodward Dream Cruise. I have been working diligently on that and I am hoping to have some tours made available to us and make that weekend an even more of an awesome time for those of us that might be able to come together. :jester

Stand by... :thumbs

I'm only about 100 miles north of Woodward on the shoreline of Saginaw Bay. Count us in. The SSR plant is in Lansing, which is about 100 miles west of Woodward. :thumbs
